The New Balance 574 is one of several significant sneaker designs celebrating a 25th anniversary next year. Size? decided to go back even further, crafting three new pairs in simple yet bold colorways inspired by a simpler time. The NB574 ’70s Pack reminds us that we’re blessed to have such a huge variety for today’s performance runners, as three primary colors remind us of a time before anyone ever considered combining purple and teal or any of the other more modern sport aesthetics we’ve come to know and love. The time machine theme is a perfect match for the Friday, December 21st drop date, but with all a huge holiday season spread still growing larger, will you have room for these Size? exclusives?

It turns out you’ll have two shots at the next sneaker in line from the Ball and Buck x New Balance project. The pair reprises the camo canvas from the prior project, the suede sections this time around sporting mountain green for a look that’s just a bit darker. There will be just 176 pairs made of the New Balance 574, each one accompanied by a fancy, hand stamped brass hang-tag indicating its place in the run. Hit the jump to check out these slick new shots and keep in mind that half of the pairs will launch online on Christmas Day at 12pm EST and the other half will arrive at Ball and Buck’s brick and mortar space on January 29th at 6PM.

The Boston connection is back, New Balance and retailer Ball and Buck converging once again for a New Balance 574 release. The pair sticks to the formula that led the first go round to fly off shelves so quickly, slapping camo canvas on the toe box and ankle collar. The difference is the base, in this case covered in mountain green suede. Do you prefer this pair to the original tan release? The Chinese Zodiac begins its Year of the Snake on February 10th, which as we’ve come to expect in recent years, means major sneaker companies will trot out some interesting animal-themed styles to commemorate the occasion. With New Balance, they’ll be following up on a Dragon-themed pack that just found its way to US retailers not too long ago, and hopefully we’ll also be able to get pairs from this New Balance 574 ‘Year of the Snake’ pack a bit sooner. Featuring four pairs with three fairly monotone styles giving way to one black-based edition combining their looks, these ML574 YOTS colorups feature a macro scale pattern and are available now for pre-order in advance of the January ship date in Japan, so have a closer look below and stick with Sneaker News for stateside info.

A reminder how far not just running shoes but also apparel have come in the past quarter-century or so, New Balance’s latest pack of 574 classics takes its theme from the nylon track gear that’s been so popular at different points in history. The New Balance 574 ‘Windbreaker Pack’ is back for the first time since its initial showing this summer, and while all five pairs aren’t here, we get a better sense for the materials and color distributions on three of them. No word yet on whether these make a hilarious whooshing sound as you embody the very essence of speed, but the good looks are confirmed and a pre-order is available now for a January ship date.

New Balance hangs its hat on coming up with more subtle interpretations on grey and/or navy suede and mesh than anyone else, but here’s a variation we’ve only started to see more recently. Whether it was the early Air Max runners’ stranglehold on vibrant shades, NB’s own conservatism or some combination of the two, you didn’t use to see many New Balance 574s like these. But as Nike (crusaders of the immortal ‘Infrared’ colorway as well) has demonstrated on so many occasions, neon green can be so eye-catching and different from the rest of the palette it’s practically neutral, which means the potential is there for a variety of remixed classic styles like this one that just arrived at retailers including Feature.
