new balance fall winter 2014 New Balance Fall/Winter 2014 Preview

You know those New Balance 997s that we just showed you? That’s just the tip of the iceberg as far as that coveted silhouette is concerned. Gathered here are some more upcoming colorways for that shoe, as well as soon to come releases for the New Balance 1500, New Balance 1400, New Balance 1300, New Balance 990, and more. As far as we can tell, the whole group is an inline one, but that doesn’t mean by any means that the brand will be abandoning the collab route that’s made them so hot for coming season. Take a complete look at the upcoming pairs below and then give us your picks for the best down in the comments.

New Balance 990 – Boston Marathon “St. Patrick’s Day”

new balance 990 boston marathon st patricks day 01 New Balance 990 Boston Marathon St. Patricks Day

There’s a holiday each March that reminds us all that our Irish friends really know how to party.  St. Patrick’s Day has long been a source of sneaker colorways, because it’s as simple as putting Kelly green out front and center as in the case of this newest New Balance 990v3.  To be fair, this is certainly a fine example of doing just that, the quality monotone suede and mesh finding a bit more variance down below on the speckled dual-density midsole.  A few golden touches and a clover at the heel finish off this USA-Made beauty quite nicely, and you can see more photos below before you pick up a pair at Packer Shoes.

New Balance “National Parks Pack”

new balance national parks pack 3 New Balance National Parks Pack

Among the previews of fresh NBs dropping in January seen recently on Sneaker News was a New Balance 996 whose colors made sense for a December release, i.e., Christmas time.  It turns out there’s a different theme at play here but one that could certainly involve plenty of evergreen trees, snow, rain(and)deer, warm fires and other holiday themes.  The New Balance ‘National Parks Pack’ shouts out the brilliant forethought our founding fathers had to set aside some of the more beautiful parts of the natural landscape so they’ll forever be gloriously green even as our cities continually expand.  Joining the 996 in this tribute are blue pairs for the 990 OG (now pushing well past its 30th anniversary window into perhaps a permanent spot in the rotation) and the 1300, and all three are made here in the States (Maine, to be specific).  Check out the whole set in more photos below and stick with Sneaker News for updates on next month’s drop.

new balance 990 og royal red New Balance 990 OG Royal Red

It looks like the New Balance 990 OG releases will extend beyond the 30th anniversary celebration.  Following the green pair with navy branding that served as the first two-tone style from this 1982 Vibram-soled build, the 990 OG goes with royal blue suede and mesh as accented by red on the side ‘N’ and heel tab.  This duo with white laces/lining/midsole, grey heel support and black outsole goes hand in hand with that timeless quintessential NB look, and you can lock up a pair early with a pre-order in advance of their January 2014 shipment from Titolo.

New Balance 990 OG – Green – Blue

new balance 990 blue green New Balance 990 OG Green Blue

As the original, 80s build of the New Balance 990 continues to pop up at retail, the model gets further and further from that straightforward two tone color blocking. For instance, this new pair actually slaps some color onto the side “N” for the time in the model’s latest cycle. Remember that while they don’t boast such a status on the tongue, this particular release is indeed of the Made in USA persuasion. Continue reading to see the Vibram soled NB990 in full detail, and then get a pair for yourself from the team at Feature Sneaker Boutique in Vegas, who is the first spot with them as far as we can tell.

new balance 99x New Balance 99x Story Video

“Making shoes like we did 30 years ago are some of the main principles of why we exist today.”

New Balance broke the sneaker market open in 1982 when they released the 990 flagship running shoe at an unprecedented $100 MSRP. This was the start of a serious movement, both in terms of athletic footwear pricing and the 990 series that has become arguably NB’s most successful lineage to date. The 990 OGs brought back the original Vibram-soled goodness that started the whole thing, and following that 30th anniversary celebration, New Bal moves in a different direction with the REVlite update for the 996′s 25th. Click through to see a video depicting the whole 990 family from its origin to the near future and stick with Sneaker News for all the latest release info.
