The New Balance 996 is a model we’ve grown accustomed to in the Made in USA variations over the past couple of months. The women’s pairs arriving lately have reversed that trend just a little bit. First it was the Beauty & Youth collab and now it’s two more inline pairs tinted with the gold look. Check out the beige and black based ones with us right after the jump and tell us if you’re on board with these gaudy New Balance 996 pairs for the ladies. If that’s the case, the team over at Titolo has theirs in stock now.

United Arrows’ Beauty & Youth imprint continues its partnership with New Balance, this time offering a ladies-only collaboration. The Beauty & Youth x New Balance W996 might remind you of the ‘Year of the Snake’ Nike WMNS Air Max 1 thanks to its mix of beige suede, coral accents and metallic gold branding. But in typically low-key New Bal fashion, this one doesn’t feature any extra theming and instead relies upon the quality of its materials and their clever arrangement. Have a closer look below and stick with Sneaker News for updates on what looks like an April release.

The latest New Balance collaboration to arrive on the scene is another in a long line of partnerships with Japanese fashion labels. This time it’s a women’s brand, as the Jeanasis x New Balance 996 arrives in a colorway Nike in particular has utilized for plenty of mens, ladies and kids sneakers over the years. The black upper mixes suede, mesh and leather with green and white accents, includes the ‘flag’ lace tag we’ve seen on other Far East NB collabs. There’s another pair mixing in a few grey tones along with pink accents that might be coming along soon, because select ladies sizes of the Jenasis WR996JEB are available now from Euro shops like Hanon.

It’s challenging to come up with the single sneaker company that represents the United States, given that all the majors have headquarters here and America birthed the sneakerhead subculture. But thanks to manufacturing more shoes here in the USA than any other brand, New Balance commands a particularly strong association to patriotic themes. This ladies’ New Balance 996 doesn’t feature the same ‘Made in USA’ tag that just about all non-collabs have recently, but wherever this pair was made, it exudes patriotism with stars and stripes all over, plus a flag-ish pennant like the ones we’ve seen from HECTIC. Stick with Sneaker News for US release info and let us know how these compare to something a little subtler like the most recent 998s.

The quarter-century mark has been an well-emphasized milestone for pretty much anything that’s lasted that long. 2012 served as the perfect podium for several 1987 classics, and this year, we should expect more of the same – that is, in terms of Retro releases that originated in ’88. Complex took the time to count down their 25 faves from that heralded year, which include the Nike Air Revolution, the original Asics Gel Runner, the Nike Air Tech Challenge, the New Balance 1500, and of course, the Air Jordan III. Check out some the included shoes below and head to Complex for the entire bit.

Those of us nursing serious suede and mesh addictions are already well aware of the increasing regularity of New Balance 996 drops as one of many reasons the brand who produces more US-made sneakers than any other company, is on the rise. Now comes word that one of the USA’s foremost NB purveyors will have a shipment in store this Saturday, January 19th, so have a closer look below and let us know if you’ll be in line at UBIQ.
