The New Balance 997 is back in all its Made in USA glory. And no, that’s not the New Balance 997.5 build that we’ve been used to from the past couple of years that grabs the 998′s sole kit, that’s the real deal NB 997. We’re assuming that the return of the original tooling on bottom is part of what’s added on to that $200 price tag but hey, these are Made in the USA and you’re not going to get that from any of the other sneaker companies out here. Continue reading for a glimpse at an upcoming navy and grey colorway and watch for word on their retail arrival from Sneaker News.

nonnative x New Balance CM997HNN ‘Dune’ – New Images

With this new drop coming up next month, nonnative will have successfully started each of the last two years with two New Balance collaborations that both take their inspiration from desert imagery.  Ironic for a streetwear brand not exactly known for their rugged selections, whose home country has all of one major sand dune formation, but you can’t really argue with results like the nonnative x New Balance CM997HNN ‘Dune’.  This tonal brown NB997 mixes supple suedes and leathers with mesh toes and covers something like ten different shades if you count the cream-colored midsole sections.  Next to those on the medial side, you’ll find a blue run that gives these a distinct feel when compared to this January’s ‘Coyote’ 1500s; will you grab these when they arrive at Caliroots on January 30th?

Japanese streetwear label nonnative started 2011 with a bang, releasing their New Balance CM1500 ‘Coyote’ just three days after the ball dropped, and it looks like they’ll be readying for 2012 with a similar plan.  The nonnative x New Balance CM997 ‘Dunes’ aren’t anywhere near as nappy as the Coyotes, but they will indeed release in almost entirely tonal brown for the first week of the next new year.  This time around, there’s a greater emphasis on leather plus a blue section on the outsole that’s something like an oasis to this desert theme.  Click through so you can see more angles and expect these at the most exclusive NB retailers like colette and Solebox starting January 7th.  via EyesCream

With the rising demand of Retro-inspired lifestyle classics from tried-and-true brands like New Balance, releases like this new CM997HWB in a quintessential NB-build deserve more attention. But New Balance hasn’t altered its formula one bit; ABZORB cushioning and hardened heel-cap have always been a standard for this mid-high level New Balance running sneaker. This new release should catch your eye, especially for those who missed out on the limited release of the CNCPTS x New Balance 999 ‘The Kennedy’; it’s got a similar nautical-themed colorway of navy/grey/red tones, and like the 999, offers supreme comfort. UpThereStore has these in stock so take a look at the extra shots below and look out for these at New Balance retailers near you.
