Just how far does the Nike Air 180 “Safari Sole” pack go in imitating that 1987 runner? Not only do they have the Safari spotting to them, but they’ve also got some ostrich paneling that’s stuck on the backside of the shoes. So while the colorways might not exactly line up with original Safari fare, the materials certainly do. Take a look at the extra images on this new set of Nike Air 180s that’s waiting below and tell us in the comments if you’re hoping to purchase either.

While we have seen “Safari” everywhere over the past couple of years, those prints have mostly showed up on the tops of sneakers. This new duo of Air Maxes sends the safari south by placing those dots across the midsoles of two pairs. When the Nike Air 180s in question will be available here in the States remains unseen, but for what it’s worth they’re already popping up at Japanese sneaker spots. Continue reading for additional imagery on the two of them if you’re a fan of this wild print showing up on this 90s runner.

Nike Air 180 – Navy – Red – Volt

The Nike Air 180 has been one of the harder to spot Air Max styles on retail shelves lately, as the duo of original colorways the came back at the end of last year didn’t really end up as part of a bigger range. Suggesting that there are more on the way is this version that has navy, red, and volt teaming up to tackle the upper. Keep in mind that we’ve spotted some Euro exclusive Air 180s as of late, but this one hopefully won’t have that fate as Foot Locker isn’t involved. This Nike Air 180 is waiting to be seen in better detail below, what are you waiting for?

Are we suddenly going to be tortured by tons of Nike Air 180s that refuse to come over to the states in the same way that the Nike Huarache does? This pair is suggesting such a fate. The sneakers are a Foot Locker Europe exclusive as far as we can tell, which means you’ll need some overseas friends putting in work for you if you’re trying to get a pair. The shoe matches light beige chalk with atomic mango and lets a little bit of straight white in via the midsole section. Find the full angles for them below and see if you can’t finagle a pair out of the Foot Locker system.

There is even more safari in the future for Nike Sportswear. The Nike Air 180, or Nike Air Max 180 depending on what school of sneaker naming you come from, will be on retail shelves later on in the year with this tonal burgundy look that has those little dimples going on. It’s unclear at the time of writing whether or not this is indicative of a greater swath of these Air Maxes for 2014, but Sneaker News will have the word for you if more do indeed show up. Continue reading for the additional photos on them that are available now and then give us your two cents on the Nike Air 180 “Burgundy Safari” via the comments section.

Earlier this year, Sneaker News examined the history of Nike Chinese New Year sneakers, noting that the first ‘Year of the . . . ‘ drop came with the first Horse Air Force 1s in 2002. This was the start of a movement we’ve seen thoroughly fleshed out in recent years, whereby annual holidays serve as inspiration for limited edition sneakers. It took a little while to get the ball rolling on these annual traditions, and about three years after the first YOTH drops, Nike turned to another holiday that’s rich in colorful inspiration.

Nike released its first Easter-inspired colorway in 2005, and in the years since, we’ve seen both an increase in activity from both the Swoosh and their rivals. And with another set of Nike Basketball signatures dropping on Good Friday, the time is right to go back and look over some of the highlights of the past decade. So join us, as we hunt down some of history’s best Easter kicks in tonight’s edition of Sneaker News NINE@NINE:
