Here’s one that uses the Air Base 2′s signature sweeping lines to create a strong contrast, as the Atomic Red eyestay adds a burst of energy to an otherwise black/grey/white base. Let us know how these compare to the first drops from this year after you’ve seen more photos, then get ready for what looks like a late June release at select Nike Sportswear dealers.

A heavy Retro push from the Running Sportswear catalog is expected this Spring, with the Air Max 1, 90, 95, and 97 getting plenty of push in OG/VNTG and EM form. The Air Base II is also making a first-ever comeback this season without the Air Base II markings on the upper, with several OG and new compositions headed our way; this VNTG’d out Infrared colorway is beginning to pop at stores overseas, so check out the images below and stay tuned for a release in the States.

When adidas Originals showed off new colorways of their classic Tech Super runner last week, we were reminded of how major brands have enjoyed significant success with resurrecting some of their more obscure running OGs. Asics and New Balance have given their brands new relevance as fans learn to appreciate the value of a timeless design, and of course, Nike Sportswear has sprinted so far out in front in this category with plenty of heat still in the vaults. The latest obscure resurrection is the Nike Air Base II, pictured here with VNTG treatments that make this quintessentially early ’90s colorup appear as if it were on ice for those two decades. Click through to see more of from a time that helped make Nike the dominant leader it is today and stick with Sneaker News to see when these return to retail.
