When adidas Originals showed off new colorways of their classic Tech Super runner last week, we were reminded of how major brands have enjoyed significant success with resurrecting some of their more obscure running OGs. Asics and New Balance have given their brands new relevance as fans learn to appreciate the value of a timeless design, and of course, Nike Sportswear has sprinted so far out in front in this category with plenty of heat still in the vaults. The latest obscure resurrection is the Nike Air Base II, pictured here with VNTG treatments that make this quintessentially early ’90s colorup appear as if it were on ice for those two decades. Click through to see more of from a time that helped make Nike the dominant leader it is today and stick with Sneaker News to see when these return to retail.

You already know that a few beloved colorways of the Nike Air Max 90 and the Nike Air Max 1 are coming back next year dressed in the vintage treatment that embeds a good sense of the true age of the design right out of the box. Click through for photos of all three and let us know in the comments if the Nike Air Base II, VNTG or otherwise, will be making it into your collection come Spring 2013.

Another bit of good news: Nike has plans of re-issuing the early 90′s Air Base II – one of the most street-wearable runners of that era – for the Spring 2013 season; it would be great to see the two OG colorways be part of the return, but we can confirm these three new colorways for early 2013, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates and we’ll keep you updated regarding any other potential Air Base II releases (perhaps the OGs?).
