Had the NFC Championship game played out a little differently, and the 49ers clenched a Superbowl victory, this release would no doubt be surrounded by a bit more fanfare. It’s a dope retro nonetheless, and you don’t have to be a San Francisco fan to respect the revival of the Nike Air Diamond Turf II in this black and gold colorway. Just one of many hot trainer retros on tap for 2012, this pair will hit in a few hours when February 8th officially arrives. Quietly one of the more strongly desired retro releases in recent memory, the Nike Air Diamond Turf II is back to satisfy fans who might be feeling almost as let down as Brandon Spikes today. We’ve got seven months before the next NFL preseason kicks off, but in the meantime you can celebrate the career of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who won his first Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers almost two decades ago. This San Fran-friendly colorup is an OG and will be followed later this year by a bolder mostly-red design with the same inspiration; would you rather have the more ostentatious version or stick with this original design? These Diamond Turf II’s will hit NikeStore this Wednesday, February 8th, but you can grab them already from Nike Sportswear retailers like Concepts, or get yours right now on eBay.

New York Giants cornerback Will Blackmon was spotted at Super Bowl XLVI Media Day rocking the OG colorway of the Air Diamond Turf, but it was that model’s sequel that was featured the year Deion Sanders won his first ring. The Nike Air Diamond Turf II is back in one of its original designs to remind us that it’s been seventeen years since Prime Time and the San Francisco 49ers demolished the San Diego Chargers for a then-unprecedented fifth Lombardi Trophy. ESPN has been repeating a clip this week from that 1995 Media Day wherein Deion jokes that his Lambo was a gift from him, to him, and you can get the same kind of internal good will going on by grabbing a pair of these Air Diamond Turf IIs for yourself from select Nike Sportswear dealers. They’re set to arrive on February 8th, but have started popping up early including a full size run available now from my_shirts_co on eBay.

Amidst the gang of retro trainers on their way for 2012, it’s hard not be excited about the return of the Nike Air Diamond Turf II. Last time we saw this sneaker we gave you a heads up on one of the OG colorways coming back from out of the woodwork, and this time around we’ve got a peak at something more toned down in the form of this black and white pair. Along with the 49′ers and Cool Grey versions, that makes four total we’ve gotten a look at so far, so which one are you going to cop? Just last year Deion Sanders was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and Nike seems eager to celebrate with a revisit to Neon Deion’s second signature shoe. We already reported on the impending 2012 release of the Nike Air Diamond Turf II as part of a massive retro trainer renaissance from Nike, but this is the first look we’re getting at the return of the OG Black/White/Metallic Gold colorway. It turns out this pair is just a month away, and we’re sure that plenty of sneakerheads are eager to cop the Nike Air Diamond Turf II from the two-sport wonder-kid. These days, you can catch Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders playing the role of a tough Tinkerbell, cajoling NFL fans to add NFL Sunday Ticket to their DirecTV subscriptions. Over a decade ago, Deion was picking off errant passes and dancing his way to the end-zone for a Pick-Six, and doing so while wearing some of the most popular Nike turf shoes ever. The Nike Air Diamond Turf II is one of those 90′s classics that has never returned, but things will change next Summer when Wale’s favorite ’49ers’ colorway and a new ‘Cool Grey’ hits stores. Sneakers News already showed you three Summer 2012 colorways of the Air Diamond Turf II, but news of the tonal-red 49ers version is what we’ve all been waiting for. A lack of advancement in the field of time-travel technology won’t allow us to go back to the 90′s, but Nike is doing its part to relive its best decade by re-releasing some of our favorite silhouettes. In 2012, Nike has plans of retroing the Nike Air Diamond Turf II, the second model of Deion Sanders’ signature line. This preview of these three upcoming colorways show you the Grey/Freshwater colorway that we showed you earlier this week, a Black/White edition, and the most nostalgic of the bunch, the San Francisco 49ers colorway of white, black, and red with the gold mesh upper. Like the Air Diamond Turf retro releases of 2010, there won’t be any Deion Sanders-related insignia (he’s no longer a Nike athlete).
