It came as a surprise when the Nike Air Flight ’89 arrived on NIKE iD in the early goings of summer, but the premium customization options haven’t slowed the in-house colorways down at all. The shoe seemed intent on referencing past Jordan colorways (it’s kind of hard not to think Air Jordan 4 with this colorway, let alone the obvious Grape aesthetic). It looks like the shoe has broken free of that phase, as Hyper Turquoise and Hyper Punch come together on a Wolf Grey and Cool Grey based pair. The colorway seems to have cemented itself within the Swoosh arsenal, but how does it fare on this model? As always, we have a better look at this Nike Air Flight ’89 after the break and know that they’re available at select spots like Oneness.

NIKEiD is having quite the summer thanks to the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low iD alone. This of course comes with the predisposition of other excitable models like this NIKEiD Air Flight ’89 not getting nearly as much shine since it debuted the same day as the Black Mamba’s flyknit grail, and yet the Swoosh did some interesting things to the silhouette that shouldn’t go unnoticed. Today we get a look at some finished samples of the model featuring the likes of a full-grain leather, a few reflective¬†detailing¬†and a better look at the red pair that sports what they’re calling “exotic leather”) Check out a better look at a few finished samples after the click and head over to NIKEiD to try your hand at customizing the sneaker today.

The Nike Air Flight ’89 is a sneaker that’s got got some obvious overlap with the Air Jordan 4. With that being said, this new pair takes cues from a couple of different Air Jordan models in terms of the colors used. There’s the “Dark Concord” shade that’s always been associated with the Air Jordan 11, and then there’s the combo of the purple and teal that gives them an almost Air Jordan 5 “Grape” vibe. The Nike Air Flight ’89 is no stranger to colorways referencing the Air Jordan 4. We’ve seen a Toro look, and models equipped with cement speckling on the midsole, but perhaps the closest, albiet unofficial, nod to Mike’s fourth signature would be this black, grey and red pair. With a color blocking almost identical to the famous retro, the shoe sees a black base, grey tongue and grey speckling on the midsole while a vibrant red hits the lining and outsole. The latest Nike Air Flight ’89 colorway is another one following the blocking from the original pairs. So with a palette as traditional as white and Varsity Red on this newest design, the Flight 89 looks like a quarter-century veteran. In fact, these follow the pattern from a couple of OGs, which happens to be different from the original white/red, which featured grey along its midsole. Let us know if NSW made the right switch by bringing these in line with one of the most popular renditions, then get in on the pre-order so yours will ship later this month from Inflammable.
