Any Air Flight ’89 fans out there? The sneaker that shares the same midsole as the Air Jordan IV was intended to be Michael Jordan’s shoe as the ambassador of Air Flight continues to be re-issued year after year, with 2012′s offerings of ‘True Blue’ and such being impressing the older Nike Basketball society of fans. This new colorway for 2013 mixes a basic Anthracite and Black with a pop of patent leather on the tongue, ankle, and Swoosh with just the right hit of teal on the contrast stitching. Maybe Finish Line should’ve picked these as the ‘Total Blackout‘ Pack representative? More shots below, so take a look and expect these in ’13.

When the Nike Air Flight wing was first created in the late 1980′s, Michael Jordan was originally selected as the lead athlete to take Flight to unimaginable heights. Instead, the Air Jordan line continued (remember, Jordan contemplated leaving Nike after the Air Jordan II) and Ron Harper was selected as the ‘Flight’ athlete, for which the Air Flight (now referred to with the ’89 suffix) was the main sneaker. The Air Flight ’89, to this day, is one of hte more revered Nike Basketball models in history, and this upcoming new colorway that matches a basic White and Cool Grey with a dazzling bronze patent leather for an astounding ‘luxury’ appeal. Foot Locker has tagged the period from next Monday through Saturday the #WeekOfGreatness in honor of the tremendous collection of heat that’ll pass through their doors those six days. FL’s biggest remaining competitor in the mall retail market has notable plans of its own this week, including the launch of an exclusive pack featuring the traditional Black(out) Friday colorup with just a little twist. This new Nike Air Flight 89 represents the ‘Total Blackout Pack’, a FinishLine-exclusive six-pack that adds subtle speckling and red accents to otherwise stealthy tonal black builds. The colorway and that midsole detailing furthers the connection this model shares with Class of ’89 peer Air Jordan IV (whose legendary ‘Bred’ OG hits on Friday), and you can see more photos after the jump below.

After a bit of a surprise in the ‘Fireberry’ WBF-inspired edition, Nike Sportswear continues its FA12 rollout on the classic basketball silhouette most strongly associated with 1989 not named ‘Air Jordan IV’. The Nike Air Flight 89 even carries its vintage right in the name in case you didn’t recognize the tell-tale eyelet wings, midsole tooling and classic Air bubble cushioning. This Dark Royal design keeps with today’s trends by going mostly monochromatic including an ‘Aqua’-comparison-inducing teal accent shade, and you’ll find them available today at NSW retailers like Oneness.
