The London Olympics are in full swing, and though we’ve already seen a ton of Team USA and otherwise five-ringed releases, there are still a few notable drops on the horizon. Going in the opposite direction of the timelessly styled Air Jordan ‘Golden Moments’ package is this new ‘London’ Nike Air Flight ’89 that utilizes a palette similar to Nike Basketball’s ‘WBF Fireberry’ designs to get close to the official XXX Olympiad color scheme. It’s kind of like CMYK on st– well, let’s just say IOC testers would have to get involved and there might be a suspension for performance enhancers like the carbon fiber-ish texture on this pair’s tongue and ankle collar. Examine those and more details after the jump, then find these London Flight 89s at Nike Sportswear stores like MrRSports. Photos: ITSB

August’s upcoming ‘Fireberry’ release might be the boldest colorway ever attempted on the Nike Air Flight ’89, so Nike Sportswear grounded the rest of the collection in the kind of ‘practical’ palettes that could’ve just as easily been released two decades ago. Along with a blackout design and one that has a ‘Chicago home’ look to it, this Wolf Grey nubuck style has a timeless appeal and plenty of wearability. Have a closer look below, let us know how this subdued approach compares to the bolder WBF-ish style we’ll see next month and grab these from select Nike Sportswear dealers like Premier.

‘Mercurial’ is one word that can readily describe Kanye West’s public persona, and his sneaker selection certainly qualifies. Kanye just launched his second Nike Sportswear smash hit collaboration, but instead of basking in the glory of the Air Yeezy 2, Mr. West has gone back into the archives for a few of his favorites. In the wake of the Yeezy 2 launch, we’ve seen his beloved Air Jordan VI mixed in among a couple of Air Jordan 1 OG styles, and the return of this AJ4 peer whose 23rd anniversary year will end with the bang of five new colorways. The Nike Air Flight 89 is on tap with new styles ranging from old school Chicago-style varsity to newfangled lifestyle looks, so click through to see more angles and stick with Sneaker News for word on US availability.

Remember when Kanye West started to pop up in the Nike Air Flight ’89 earlier this year and everyone was certain that the model would suddenly be clamored over like never before? Well this upcoming colorway might be the first to really test that theory, marking the first time in a minute that the silhouette has arrived with any sort of theme attached. That theme comes as a somewhat tenuous connection to the “World Baksetball Festival” pack, with the Flight pictured sporting quite the similar colorway and the exact same release date as the aforementioned set. Continue reading to check out this ultra bright pair of Nike Air Flight ’89s and let us know in the comments if you think these will get snapped up at retail.

NIKE PACK WEEK
With Nike’s Retro Basketball line being such a major topic this year, it’s time we focus on one of the most concentrated Nike Basketball releases ever – the Nike ‘Hoop’ Pack of late 2005. Some may have overlooked these classics primarily because these were released exclusively overseas, so if you needed a reminder, there’s no better time than now. The Nike ‘Hoop’ Pack features a number of Nike Basketball models new and old ranging from the earliest Nike Blazer, to the new models like the Air Force Operate and Shox MTX. Sprinkled in between are other Classic models like the Air Force 180, Air Max Penny, and Air More Uptempo, but let’s break down this Pack even further.
The Nike ‘Hoop’ Pack was developed with a select group of NBA players in mind, with their teams acting as the maestros of each symphonic piece. The Air More Uptempo, which we attribute to Scottie Pippen, featured a re-mixed Chicago Bulls colorway with a daring Red upper and black patent leather on the big ‘AIR’. Penny Hardaway’s Air Max Penny threw in a contrasting University Blue in the classic Orlando, while four models featured the blazing Phoenix Suns colorway as the centerpiece. Being overseas exclusives (some released in Canada), the Hoop Pack was a tough find – particularly the lesser-known models like Tony Parker’s Air Double Figure (the Zoom Huarache 2k5 takedown model) and the aforementioned Shox MTX (Matrix, for Shawn Marion). Check out the entire Nike Hoop Pack of late 2005 below and stay tuned for more Pack goodness tomorrow in Classics Revisited!

Rappers and celebs like to boast about how they “never wear the same outfit twice”. That’s not the case for fashion taste-maker Kanye West, who clearly knows what he likes, and wears what he likes. He was spotted yet again with the Air Flight ’89s that he wore during the high-profile Game 3 between the Miami Heat and New York Knicks, and does so again during a recent outing in London with Kim Kardashian. If you look back on Kanye’s Celebrity Feet sightings, you’ll probably recognize a pattern – Air Jordan VI, Timberlands, Yeezy 2s, and now the True Blue ’89′s. More on Kanye’s Air Flight ’89s after the jump, so take a look and let us know where the Flight ’89 ranks among your all-time favorites! Photos: zimbio

Kanye West’s role as “sneaker tastemaker” has been well-documented on the interwebs since he gained mainstream notoriety with The College Dropout in 2004, and it’s risen to a point where he’s reached the holy grail of sneakerheadism – a signature sneaker. While the collective sneaker fanbase is patiently awaiting the high-end Air Yeezy 2, Kanye West was spotted sitting courtside at the Game 3 of the Knicks/Heat series at the Garden, wearing the Nike Air Flight ’89 ‘True Blue’ that recently hit stores. He and courtside-mate Ben Stiller were probably busy critiquing the game and, well, if you look below, a few other things. Check out Yeezy in the Air Flight ’89s below and stick with Sneaker News for more NBA Feet sightings! Photos :wire

The Nike Air Flight 89 has excelled with the classic styles brought back this year, but arguably its best effort in 2012 was the totally new Neptune Blue and Action Green-accented Stealth edition. Fans of that drop are certain to find value in this new black nubuck drop, a design patterned with the exact same blocking template and even replicating the use of a vibrant ‘neon’ shade on the eyelets. We’ve now seen nine colorways on this Air Jordan IV peer so far this year; might this pair be the best so far? Let us know as you click through for additional views, then grab yours from NikeStore.
