Penny Hardaway won Olympic gold with Dream Team II at the 1996 Atlanta Games, but we haven’t seen any of his Nike Sportswear retro and hybrid series yet connected with this summer’s USAB blowout. Instead, NSW’s going to be emphasizing Penny in the fourth quarter of 2012 along with one of his teammates from the XXVI Olympiad. Moving left to right in the image above, we see our first glimpse of the new Nike Air Penny V that seeks to continue Anfernee’s legacy while introducing some new twists. You can also count on a copper Zoom Rookie LWP as well as the Air Flight 1 joining a couple of older looking designs that seem inspired by David Robinson‘s Air Force 180 High (though they seem to lack an inflation system of any sort), perhaps similar to the PR1 we saw imitating the classic Air Pressure. Those swiss-cheese pods that provided the Air Flight One with its character were something out of the ordinary for Nike, but then again, Nike’s got a thing for the ‘out of the ordinary’. The dimpled ovals on the upper of the Air Flight One appeared like craters on the moon, making the shoe seem like a space-boot rather than a lightweight basketball sneaker. It all comes full circle with the long-awaited re-release of the Nike Air Flight One, as it sees its first ever re-issue in two colorways – the OG ‘Orlando’ and the space-themed ‘Glow In The Dark’ NRG release. These will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Sole Movement tomorrow so hold on tight because these All-Star releases are going to take you for a bumpy ride. Want to avoid an online or in-store fiasco altogether? Check out what’s available on eBay.

How exactly has a player a decade removed from the game managed out grab more attention with his 2012 NBA All-Star Game releases than Nike Basketball’s marquee names? Well first of all there’s the Orlando tie-in, and second it’s safe to say that Foamposite fervor is at an all time high. Given those factors the Penny Hardaway lineup for the coming weekend has a pretty big buzz going, and it’s hard not be excited about the return of the Nike Air Flight One. Killer detailing like the glow-in-the-dark sections and the NASA-styled Nike patch on the tongue are just icing on the cake for this retro from out of nowhere. Hit the jump for more shots of the Nike Air Flight ONE NRG ‘All-Star’ and ready yourself for their release this Thursday, February 23th. If you haven’t planned out where to pick them up, start making some phone calls to premium spots like Millennium Shoes.

The annual NBA All-Star Game has served as a righteous platform for some of the greatest sneakers ever, and with Nike stepping it up a noticeable notch with the ‘Galaxy’ theme, it would be entertaining to look back at some of the best All-Star footwear of all-time. Luckily for us, Kicks Lounge in China held a special All-Star themed event, previewing the upcoming Nike Basketball and Jordan All-Star Collection and taking a trip down All-Star memory lane; the best Air Jordans, Nike LeBrons, Nike Zoom Kobe, and Nike Basketball were all up for display in a ‘history lesson’ of sorts, placing Michael’s earliest All-Star selections like the Air Jordan III Black/Cement and LeBron’s ‘Remix’ in the spotlight. Does the upcoming ‘Galaxy’ collection have the gumption to be considered as one of the best All-Star sneakers? Check out this nice recap of the All-Star Showcase @ Kicks Lounge and stay tuned to Sneaker News for some more NBA All-Star sneaker features this week! via hk-kicks

The Orlando Magic have held onto Dwight Howard in this young NBA season specifically because they don’t want to deal with questions about having traded him before hosting this year’s All-Star celebration. Either way, it’s going to be a major topic of discussion next weekend, so perhaps the Magic front office should try to get some value for him before it’s too late. It’s not like leaving the Magic to play for another team would totally diminish his history in central Floriday, anyway; just look at all the noise a long-retired player is making who hasn’t worn the black and blue for over a decade! Penny Hardaway’s Nike Sportswear retros are taking center stage as we approach the Amway Center extravaganza, and the Nike Air Flight One Quickstrike with a glow-in-the-dark sole proves that history doesn’t remember you just for your immediate impact. This Dark Grey and Fresh Mint release brings along with it the Florida Space Coast theme that’s made its mark on the Nike Baksetball signatures as well as a trio of Dunk High QSes, and with an ‘Orlando’ AFOne coming up with the same February 23rd release date, which ones will you end up buying at NSW shops like Wish?

Would Wale’s daily sneakers make our Sneaker News Blogs: Best of WDYWT? With his two latest Instagram x WDYWT submissions, he’d probably garner a ton of votes. Wale rocking sneakers in advance of release dates isn’t necessarily breaking news, but these two could not be ignored because he actually rocked one of them, the Galaxy Foamposites, during his live performance on Conan. So credit Wale for debuting the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ to planet Earth, and also for the first on-feet images of the Air Flight One ‘All-Star’ release. We’ve got a video of Wale’s live performance below so take a look at the video and images below and let us know what you think.

The Nike Air Flight One remained quietly in the Nike Basketball archives since 1995, until in 2011, it manifested itself in the Nike Zoom Rookie LWP – a hybrid model containing the physical and spiritual aspects of the Nike Air Flight One, Air Foamposite One, and Air Go LWP. For the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, Nike will introduce the classic model as part of the Nike Sportswear Space Exploration Collection – a special glow-in-the-dark edition inspired by intergalactic themes. Release alongside that high-energy rendition is the original colorway of the Air Flight One, donned in a White/Blue/Black make-up reminiscent of Penny Hardaway’s Orlando Magic uniforms and coinciding with the destination city of this year’s All-Star Game festivities. The Nike Air Flight One ‘Orlando’ as well as the entire Space Exploration Collection will release on Febraury 23rd at select retailers so continue reading for a detailed look and let us know what you think.

You’d have an interesting argument on your hands against one of Nike Basketball’s ‘big three’ signature superstars, but when it comes to the rest of the 2012 NBA All-Star contingent, all of them are being overshadowed by a long-retired former All-NBA’er. That’s because the placement of this year’s ASG in Orlando has given Nike Sportswear the perfect opportunity to apply some otherworldy approaches to some of Penny Hardaway’s beloved classics, and along with the hotly anticipated ‘Galaxy’ Foamposite One, the Nike Air Flight One will drop just before the game in a glow-in-the-dark-soled, space-themed colorway that might be the most eye-catching in that classic’s nearly two decade history. Click through so you can see some sharp new shots and let us know whether it’s these or the ‘Orlando’ edition you’ll be getting when they release on Thursday, February 23rd at NikeStore.
