Looks like we’ve got a tight battle for best kicks of the last two nights! Monta Ellis went on repeat mode, but kept it fiery with the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’, but up-and-comer Delonte West caught our attention by wearing the Nike Air Flight One in the ‘Orlando’ colorway. Kendrick Perkins’ Air Jordan X ‘Chicago’ deserves some attention, as does Gilbert Arenas’ back-to-back Air Jordan showing of the Old Royal X and the Air Jordan IX ‘For The Love Of The Game’. A blue-based jersey seems to follow Gilbert wherever he lands, but that’s only good news because we know what he’s capable of putting out when rocking those colors! Check out the best sneakers from the last two nights and let us know who takes the cake! via espn

Nike Air Flight One – White – Royal – Grey

The Nike Air Flight One returned to the spotlight in Orlando during the NBA All-Star aka ‘Galaxy’ weekend, and while the original colorway named after its hometown exposed the younger generation to a nearly forgotten cult favorite, it’d take a serious sneakerhead to call out all the other OGs for this model.  One of those was a mostly-white royal-accented editon that came towards the end of this model’s first run in 1995, a colorway we see reworked with a splashier approach above.  And while we can’t expect to see these hit retail with Penny Hardaway‘s signature as on the toe of this pair you’ll see after the jump, they do indeed seem poised to introduce a new blocking pattern for this model.  But given the recent popularity of classics with that same antique varsity simplicity of late, would you have rather seen this pair or its black or red brethren released in the original form?  Let us know when you click through for more images and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

Penny Hardaway won Olympic gold with Dream Team II at the 1996 Atlanta Games, but we haven’t seen any of his Nike Sportswear retro and hybrid series yet connected with this summer’s USAB blowout.  Instead, NSW’s going to be emphasizing Penny in the fourth quarter of 2012 along with one of his teammates from the XXVI Olympiad.  Moving left to right in the image above, we see our first glimpse of the new Nike Air Penny V that seeks to continue Anfernee’s legacy while introducing some new twists.  You can also count on a copper Zoom Rookie LWP as well as the Air Flight 1 joining a couple of older looking designs that seem inspired by David Robinson‘s Air Force 180 High (though they seem to lack an inflation system of any sort), perhaps similar to the PR1 we saw imitating the classic Air Pressure.  Click through to see more, let us know which makes you most excited and stick with Sneaker News for each pair’s release info.  via HC

Nike Air Flight One QS ‘Orlando’ + ‘All-Star’ – Release Reminder

February 22nd, 2012 by | 24 comments

nike air flight one all star rr Nike Air Flight One QS Orlando + All Star Release Reminder

Those swiss-cheese pods that provided the Air Flight One with its character were something out of the ordinary for Nike, but then again, Nike’s got a thing for the ‘out of the ordinary’. The dimpled ovals on the upper of the Air Flight One appeared like craters on the moon, making the shoe seem like a space-boot rather than a lightweight basketball sneaker. It all comes full circle with the long-awaited re-release of the Nike Air Flight One, as it sees its first ever re-issue in two colorways – the OG ‘Orlando’ and the space-themed ‘Glow In The Dark’ NRG release. These will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Sole Movement tomorrow so hold on tight because these All-Star releases are going to take you for a bumpy ride. Want to avoid an online or in-store fiasco altogether? Check out what’s available on eBay.

How exactly has a player a decade removed from the game managed out grab more attention with his 2012 NBA All-Star Game releases than Nike Basketball’s marquee names? Well first of all there’s the Orlando tie-in, and second it’s safe to say that Foamposite fervor is at an all time high. Given those factors the Penny Hardaway lineup for the coming weekend has a pretty big buzz going, and it’s hard not be excited about the return of the Nike Air Flight One. Killer detailing like the glow-in-the-dark sections and the NASA-styled Nike patch on the tongue are just icing on the cake for this retro from out of nowhere. Hit the jump for more shots of the Nike Air Flight ONE NRG ‘All-Star’ and ready yourself for their release this Thursday, February 23th. If you haven’t planned out where to pick them up, start making some phone calls to premium spots like Millennium Shoes.
