Nike Sportswear has blown the roof off Foamposite’s aesthetic potential as in the wake of the glorious ‘Galaxy’, we’ve seen a growing mass of graphic options. Here we see a new twist on that as well as a classic Posite basketballer reimagined as the top shroud comes off the Nike Flightposite Exposed. The Air Flightposite goes no-zip a decade and a half after its debut, this high-contrast zebra edition adding a red/white split along the sides in a style vaguely reminiscent of various Hyperfuses or the recently spotted two-tone KD V sample. Check out more images of the Flightposite Exposed after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for the release date.

It seems like any sneaker using the Foamposite technology is bound to undergo some tweaking at one point or another. Indeed the Nike Flightposite is the next to do so, with the zipper of the original apparently stripped out on this retro version. Heads who wore them back in the day will recall that the zipper wasn’t entirely functional, so we wouldn’t be surprised if people even pegged this one as a good move. Continue reading for all the angles on this crazy zebra version of the Nike Flightposite No-Zip and check back in with Sneaker News to find out if they’re releasing or not.

The most recent emergence of the Nike Air Flightposite on Sneaker News was back in mid-late March when we showed you the funky “No-Zip” sample in that eccentric colorway that paired blue and neon with a elephant print film on the upper. It appears that the Flightposite in question will be joined by other funky colorways as we get a first look at a Pink/Black colorway of the Nike Air Flightposite No-Zip here; it utilizes a pink-to-black upwards gradient with a lava splatter around the shoe for quite a funky appearance that we’ve simply never seen on this popular basketball model. A full shot is below, so take a look and chime in with your thoughts on this strange development.

Nike continues spelunking down the deep caverns of its Hoops catalog by bringing out the Nike Air Flightposite for another round of Retros. A few notable occurrences in this 2013 Retro; first off, the colorway is unlike anything we’ve ever seen, spurning the monotone color-blocking for a multi-layered composition, and secondly this 2013 Sample will feature no zipper enclosure on the upper. The Nike Air Flightposite is known for the inner bootie construction with a shroud, but it appears that these will be something along the Nike Air Foamposite Lite in that it won’t feature any shroud on the upper. We’re certain the opinions are cooking up so check out the full shot below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more.

After a fairly thorough excavation of the legendary 1995-96 season and its immediate followups, Nike Basketball continues its journey through the past two decades of excellence with the spiritual successor to yesterday’s entrant. ’97′s Air Foamposite One set the bar with a then-record $170 MSRP and a design that remains ‘futuristic’ to this day, and two years later, Foamposite lead designer Eric Avar leveraged the technology to “create a seamless extension of your body.” The Nike Air Flightposite was born two years later with a sleeker design inspired by classical anatomy drawings and a unique zipper enclosure that made it one of the smoothest basketball shoes ever created. Click through to see more photos, sketches and words from the designer (conspicuous by a complete absence of Kevin Garnett references) and stick with Sneaker News for tomorrow’s look back over 20 years of Nike Basketball brilliance.

One intense NBA rivalry that has coole down a bit over the last few years has been the feud between future Hall of Fame big men Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs and Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics. Both were tagged by Nike early on in their careers and were even featured together in one of the more memorable Nike basketball adverts ever (Kevin Garnett taking on the world in a game of pick-up ball), so while their careers were destined for similar paths of greatness, the two couldn’t have been farther from each other in every other aspect outside of the game. Duncan made his presence known with his silent charisma, while KG is noted for his notorious in-game trash-talking sparked by an intense flame fanned by the spirit of competition, and because both have stayed true to the fundamentals of the game, both continue to be forces to be reckoned with.
Perhaps this June, NBA fans could be in for one final showdown between Duncan and KG, and it’ll certainly be one to watch because KG and Duncan, quite frankly, simply don’t like being around one another. Going back to KG’s Nike’s roots – the 6’11″ forward was outfitted with the Air Flightposite line (which later became associated with his name), and today we get a look at one of the rarest PEs of the era – a Black/White colorway with KG’s initials on the ‘tongue’ and ‘The Future’ labeled on the heel-tabs. So: Flightposite, or Total Foamposite Max? Which Foam-based shoe made for the two most dominant big-men of our generation is more treasured? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to check out the gallery of this rare PE before you head on over to the listing from masauction on eBay.

It’s safe to say that all of you reading this consider yourselves ‘collectors’ to some extent. While we all fit under the broad umbrella of sneaker collecting, most of us have a specific category that weighs heavy in our hearts. This collection submitted by winson_guo for example goes ham on the PE’s, opting to chase down some of the more elusive pieces of sneaker history out there. The selection includes pairs from big name Nike and Jordan athletes like Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul, and branches out over a good number of models. There’s plenty of Jordan legacy releases with the team flavored colorways, the Air Jordan 2010, Air Jordan 2011, and Air Jordan XII to name a few, then groups from Nike Basketball sig’s like the Nike Zoom Kobe VI and the Nike Air Max LeBron VII. Follow us after the jump for the full photos and let us know what you think of this collection.
