Straight from the slums of Shoalin? There’s obviously no overt Wu connection with the upcoming Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Electrolime’, but it’s hard to look at this black and yellow pair and not get a ‘Killa Beez’ vibe. Furthering the trend of attention grabbing colors applied to the groovy upper, the sneaker seems to be testing just how far the brighter looks can be pushed onto the Air Penny legacy. As the first of Foamposite Ones to hit after the recent ‘Galaxy’ madness, it will be interesting to see if the mayhem has a lasting effect on the retail arrival of future Foams going forward. What do these upcoming Foamposites and New York Knicks phenomenon Jeremy Lin have in common? They were both previously affiliated with Golden State. Credit the Warriors front office for giving the Harvard geek a chance at the NBA in the first place, but with GSW’s already stacked backcourt, there simply was no room left for Lin to get some burn. As Lin has stated numerous times in post-game interviews, it was divine intervention that got him to where he is now (winnin’ and thrilLIN’), and similarly, you can expect regret of hellish proportions if you decide to pass on these beauties. Enough about Lin and more about the shoes; these Electrolimes have the tough task of being the following act to the upcoming Galaxy Foamposite release, but don’t expect any sort of slump because these are certain to fly off shelves. With all the commotion about the ‘Galaxy’ colorway slated to release on the eve of NBA All-Star 2012, be careful not to overlook the Nike Air Foamposite One release a short while later that we’ve been watching for a good while now. The ’Electrolime’ Air Foamposite One gets back to this model’s uniformly colored heritage with a new shade so vibrant that these have managed to escape the Iowa/Wu-Tang/Pittsburg/LIVESTRONG typecasting that seems to all too often pidgeonhole black and yellow designs. These also feature just a hint of navy blue on the ’1c’ logos and insoles, perhaps the tiniest reference to University of Michigan star Chris Webber who wound up wearing his college colors again in Golden State where he was traded for Penny Hardaway on Draft Day 1993. It won’t be February’s Foamposite release because the Varsity Red Ones are just too perfect a fit with Valentine’s Day right around the corner, but the ’Electrolime’ Nike Air Foamposite One could indeed have been an interesting addition to the growing spread of 2012 NBA All-Star footwear. A colorway once teased as ‘Golden State’, this bright yellow getup keeps a blue ’1c’ insignia and in doing so makes us wonder what might have been had the infamous Draft Day 1993 trade not gone down. Could we have been celebrating this upcoming ASG with Air Max Sensation retros instead of Air Penny drops? Timing turns out to be everything with these kinds of tributes, and while we won’t get access to the ‘Electrolime’ Faomposite Ones here in the States until St. Patrick’s Day, you might see pairs pop up on the ‘Bay since a limited number of pairs will be releasing in SE Asia tomorrow. Nobody is happy about the price hike, but when release date is upon us will you really be able to resist? The Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Electrolime’ will be hitting in the middle of March, just as the snow is thawing for many of us and spring break rolls around. And what better way to celebrate the return of the sunshine with a sneaker so bright as this one, no doubt one of the more attention grabbing Foamposite sneakers we’ve seen-and that’s saying a lot given how these space age shoes have been known to break knecks. With many months having passed since the last major Foamposite release, it’s safe to say fans are hungry for another go round. Their first chance to go back to the well will be with the Varsity Red version dropping in February, which will launch us back into the Foam-madness for 2012. Striking later in the ides of March is the Electrolime pair pictured here, a gooey green colorway that may just been the loudest Foam release to date. In light of the six successful Foamposite One/Pro releases of this year, it’s very probable that the Foamposite insanity will spill over into 2012. With the confirmation of both the Metallic Red and Electrolime colorways dropping in the coming Spring season, sneakerheads will be given an early start on their Foamposite collections for the year – but are either the Metallic Reds or Electrolimes the frontrunner for the best Foamposites of the year? We don’t know what else is in store just yet, but the Electrolimes, pictured here, are a likely favorite thanks to its vibrant colorway. Leading up to a big release for the Foamposite line, there’s always a bit of confusion regarding the exact tone of the foam on the uppers. Put simply, the molded material differs quite a bit given the lighting conditions, which we saw this year with the ‘Pewter’ colorway that had heads unsure of how metallic looking the final product would be. 2012′s Electrolime drop is evoking familiar feelings, with the pics generally showing off more of a banana yellow look. This set of photos has them coming in closer to their namesake ‘Electrolime’, but regardless of the minute uncertainty in tones, these are sure to be scooped up with the quicknes.
