Some of the most recent contributions to Sneaker News on the Foamposite front have been custom designs in a variety of applications, but here’s one that just comes from the factory in a colorway we’ve never before seen on this Nike Basketball modern classic. The Nike Air Foamposite One has never been done in a yellow shade like this upcoming ‘Electrolime’ release for 2012, though you can’t help but wonder if this could have been close to the series’ default look had Penny Hardaway not been traded away from Golden State on Draft Day 1993. Historical connotations not withstanding, this is a vibrant look perfectly timed for the return of warm weather, though some have questioned the nickname given their decidedly yellow (and not green) appearance in each round of preview images so far. Would you have preferred something greener like last year’s Electric Green shade as seen on the Foamposite Pro, or are you already budgeting for one of the most eye-catching Foam One releases yet? Click through to see more, stick with Sneaker News for the US release date, and check out the sample already available from sandwichpress on eBay.

Who-da thunk Foamposite would become a genre on its own? Introduced in the mid-90′s by Nike APE as a lightweight and less labor-intensive material, the Nike Air Foamposite today has become one of the most collectible sneaker items around, and 2012 will only fuel that fire with a plethora of upcoming releases like the ‘Metallic Red’ and ‘Electrolime’ Foamposite One, shown here. The Electrolimes were first dubbed the ‘Golden State’, a name that seems rather fitting based on this nice view of the Yellow/Navy One-Cent logo on the heel (Michigan would’ve been a nice fit as well). Spring 2012 is the target season for the release of these bad boys, but if you can’t wait around and want to break necks before the New Year, cop this size 9 pair from lilshk54321 on eBay.

His YouTube subscribers probably noticed that it’s been over two months since notable sneaker unboxer SneakGeekz has popped up with a new video, but if there was ever a way to come back with a bang, boy was it this. SG came through with a look into the future by way of a number of early 2012′s most significant releases already in hand. He inspects the packaging and then pops out the Air Jordan X ‘Old Royal’ and ‘Bordeaux’ Jordan Spiz’ike before moving into Nike Sportswear and its ‘Metallic Red’ and ‘Electrolime’ Air Foamposite Ones. Perhaps the most intriguing part of the whole thing is how good the mostly tonal-grey Spizikes look under the everyday lighting conditions at SneakGeekz’ house; is their appearance strong enough to put aside the debate surrounding their nickname? Have a look for yourself at the video after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for updates on all the upcoming Foamposite and Air Jordan release dates.

Among the new revelations already this week on Sneaker News was our look yesterday at an upcoming Nike Air Foamposite One colorway being dubbed ‘Golden State’ for the brief conneciton Penny Hardaway shared with the Warriors who selected him third in 1993. As we all know, Hardaway was swapped for Chris Webber in one of the biggest Draft Day deals ever, and his tenure with the Orlando Magic explains why the OG Foam Ones are Dark Neon Royal, not something like this Electrolime color we expect on Nike Sportswear store shelves next March. Is this a colorway we’ll see reproduced across the entire NSW Air Penny lineup like how Kobe Bryant’s signatures get a Charlotte Hornets colorway each summer? If the reaction to this ’Electrolime’ Air Foamposite One is any indication, sneakerheads would be happy to snatch them up, and you can see more images right now by clicking on the jump below. via Air-Randy
