nike air foamposite one galaxy release date 11 Nike Air Foamposite One Galaxy Release Date

People have always said that Foamposite was something out of this world. Using the ‘Big Bang’ theme for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, Nike Sportswear went where no man has gone before and introduced the ‘Galaxy’ Foamposite, showcasing the colorization possibilities of the material that still stirs up lengthy conversation today. Using these types of colorways isn’t exactly new to Nike, as the non-solid color and traditional colorblocking was something done decades, but with the Galaxy being the first of such releases for Foamposites, sneakerheads are itching for what else could be in store. The release date is now reported to be Saturday, February 25th, right in time for the All-Star Weekend festivities, and will come attached with this dope ‘Remove Before Flight’ tab with the Nike Flight logo inspired by the NASA symbol. nike air foamposite one galaxy new images 01 Nike Air Foamposite One Galaxy New Images

The ‘Big Bang’ colorways of the LeBron 9 and Kobe VII have been trending topics here on Sneaker News, but it was the ‘Galaxy’ colorway of the Nike Air Foamposite One that first caused an intergalactic stir. The Galaxy Foams have been one of the most talked about shoes over the last few months – not specifically about the colorway, but the apparent widening of the Foamposite library under Gentry Humphrey’s helm at NSW; with Metallic Red, Electrolime, and the rumored Gem Green already confirmed for 2012, the Foamposite won’t slow down anytime soon, but we do have some new images of the Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’. With the ‘Big Bang’ theme hitting the 2012 NBA All-Star Break, we can certainly expect these around that time. Check out the snapshots below and let us now what you think and stay tuned for more release information. via DJCK/Mayor.

Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’

nike air foamposite galaxy 04 Nike Air Foamposite One Galaxy

Does anyone here know who John Tawney and Toren Orzeck are? We’ll give you a minute to think about it. Chances are you won’t recognize those names so readily, but if you’re a Foamposite fanatic (and how could you not be, with all the crazy colorways that have released and will release in ’12) the names of Tawney and Orzeck should be inserted in your sneaker knowledge glossary. Permanently. Former members of the Nike Advanced Product Engineering team (and engineers at Ford and GE prior to that), Tawney and Orzeck created ‘Foamposite’ material as a result of their efforts of  creating a material that was both lightweight and less laborious to manufacture, paving the way for some of the most revolutionary designs in Nike Basketball history.

The futuristic nature of the material was only accentuated by Eric Avar’s slick design, but in 2012, it’ll be re-introduced in fitting space-age form – the ‘Galaxy’ colorway that Sneaker News first showed you a week ago. The upper features transplanted imagery of colorful galaxies of outer space that, when combined with the Air Foamposite One design, creates a visual masterpiece that, like most piece of revolutionary art, might not be appreciated in its time. Some might think the use of the graphic print might be overkill, but Nike has a history, with shoes like the Presto, Kukini, and other sneakers on the funkier end of the spectrum of design adopting insanely detailed uppers. The Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ will not release, so check out these new images via TSG and let us know what you think, because you might not see these pop up much elsewhere.
