While some folk in the custom sneaker scene are focused on slapping the most intricate of colorways on their work, Sole Swap has been going left with his powerful switch ups. Shown here is the latest, which remixes the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Dark Pine’ colorway. An sunburned orange gets introduced to the outsole and the various Swoosh hits around the sneaker (Along with the customary patches on the back end). With the summer rapidly expiring and the days getting shorter, the back to school season is pretty much upon us. While that might dreadful news for some of you, there is a silver lining to be had in the form of the Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Dark Pine’. What better way to show up back to school than in a brand new pair of these Penny approved beauties, with the more serious colorway symbolizing the transition away from the bright days of summer. While the wait for these has been a long one, they are just around the corner with an official release date of September 2nd. Shipments have already started to pop up at retailers like Sole Boutique, so keep your eyes out for them, or grab a pair early on eBay.

If schools still commenced on the first Tuesday after Labor Day, these would be poised to be the back-to-school shoe for early adopters. But then again, sneaker release dates have also become less traditional in recent years, with high profile models sometimes available weeks or months ahead of time. Guys like Wale don’t even have to buy them at a premium either, and the MMG signee has been spotted in the Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Dark Pine’ as far back as February. That was just after our initial preview in January, so we’ve been waiting for these Dark Pine Foamposites to hit retail for quite a while, and the Friday September 2nd release date is now less than six weeks out. Will the last Foamposite release from Nike Sportswear in 2011 turn out to be the year’s best? That’s largely a matter of opinion, but it’s indisputable that the Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Dark Pine’ is up against some significant competition. The Dark Pines have to contend with the Electric Greens and Retros, not to mention the various Air Foamposite One colorways we’ve seen so far, but it’s hard to imagine a better colorway as we move toward shorter days and colder nights. Few sounds can make an adult instantly snap back into a playfully childish state of mind like the jingling and jangling of an ice cream truck during the dog days of summer. New Yorkers are particularly lucky in this regard, with a variety of trucks roaming the Big Apple’s bustling avenues, and one in particular that’ll have sneakerheads sprinting down the street. Nike Sportswear’s ‘Always On’ Ice Cream Truck is set to serve up the goods including a Hyperstrike-sized 24 pair release on the Nike Air Force 1 High Hyperfuse in Volt, with the Blue Glow edition to follow soon after. “In the Pines” isn’t just a traditional American folk song; it’s also where Foamposite fanatics long to be this fall, the ‘Dark Pine’ Nike Air Foamposite Pro dropping as the fall season’s sole foam release. These don’t have the immediate lace-swap-custom potential as the Retro edition they’ve been previewed alongside, but the Dark Pine Foamposite Pro is certainly a more appropriate look as we move back toward colder weather. You might even get creative and string some fiber optics through the eyelets to get a Christmas tree vibe going on, but you can just as easily appreciate this still-ahead-of-its-time model for what it is.
