NIKE AIR FOAMPOSITE PRO The Nike Air Foamposite Pro is a Nike Basketball sneaker that debuted in 1997, hitting shelves soon after its predecessor the Nike Air Foamposite One. The Pro features a similar silhouette, with the differences coming in the form of the side Swoosh and the lack of any Penny Hardaway branding. The Nike Air Foamposite was also given the retro treatment much sooner than the One, being trotted out again at the early part of the last decade.

You can call them “Yeezy” Foams if you want, but some people aren’t too happy about the quick associations made that connect any given black/pink pair of sneakers with Kanye West’s Nike line. The similarities are certainly there on this upcoming Nike Air Foamposite Pro though-that solar red hue shows up for the lining, the base is black and features what sort of looks like a snake pattern around the lace placket, and those just might be GITD soles. Stay with us after the break for a more comprehensive look at these Foamposites, one which obscures the carbon fiber pattern just a little bit, and check back in on Sneaker News for a release date.

spider man foam pro release date Nike Air Foamposite Pro Spider Man Release Date

The Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Spider-Man” release date is February 8th, 2014. The sneakers will be the first pair of Foamposites to release in 2014, barring any unforeseen circumstances, and seem to suggest that we will be seeing plenty more graphic pairs going forward. It should go without saying that the “Spider Man” name attached is purely a colloquial one-this isn’t any sort of Marvel tie in. Continue reading for more on the Foams and give us a shout in the comments if you’re planning to purchase.

“Yeezy” Nike Air Foamposite Pro

yeezy foams Yeezy Nike Air Foamposite Pro

The “Yeezy” nickname does get passed around quite often (sometimes unnecessarily), but let’s face it – these are almost an exact homage to that popular Y2 colorway. This upcoming release, which matches the Nike Air Foamposite Pro model with the black exterior, hot red interior, and presumably glow-in-the-dark sole, and also adds some individual flair with the carbon fiber appliques on the upper lace collar (note to Nike: all carbon-fiber Foams are a must).  Your thoughts on this colorway? Give us a shout in the comments below and stay tuned for a release date on these Yeezy Foams.

Earlier in the week we asked what would happen with Foamposites in 2014 regarding the graphic vs solidly colored route. It looks like we’re getting another piece of evidence as far as the possible trajectory. This new pair of the Nike Air Foamposite Pro features a faux-carbon fiber look across the top, along with a glow in the dark outsole and a bit of solar red on the accents that just may have some folks slapping on a “Yeezy” nickname. Where Will Foamposites Go in 2014?

2014 foamposite releases 2 Where Will Foamposites Go in 2014?

What direction will Foamposites go in 2014? This past year marked a major shift in Nike Sportswear’s approach to the beloved Penny sneakers, as it was the first one on record that had more graphic Foamposites than it did solidly colored ones. And yes, some of those patterned releases were lambasted, but a good number of them also pleased the public. Consider the results of our recent Best and Worst Foamposites of 2013 poll: the “Weatherman” and “Thermal Map” pairs were the least favored while the “Oregon” and “Fighter Jet” were the favorites. Regardless of public opinion, it seems like graphic releases will continue to be the norm as evidenced by the upcoming “Spider Man” and “Silver Camo” versions for 2014 that are on display here. Continue reading to see the full results of the Foamposite poll as well as the two confirmed 2014 releases, and let us know in the comments if you think Nike will continue down the “graphic” path while sprinkling in a few tonal colorways.

2013 foamposite releases 12 900x675 Vote For Your Favorite (and Least Favorite) Nike Foamposite of 2013

2013 marked a major turning point in the Nike Foamposite line. For the first time since the sneakers’ initial release back in 1997 with the Nike Air Foamposite One, the lineup was dominated by printed pairs rather than solidly colored ones. Prescient sneakerheads saw this one coming; last year got us familiar with the idea of Foams featuring graphics across their uppers with the likes of the super limited, and subsequently super coveted, Nike Air Foamposite One “Galaxy” and Nike Air Foamposite One “ParaNorman” pairs. Both of those were massive sneaker stories in their own right, and their success meant that it was only a matter of time before the printed Foamposite look went a little more mainstream.
