NIKE AIR FOAMPOSITE PRO The Nike Air Foamposite Pro is a Nike Basketball sneaker that debuted in 1997, hitting shelves soon after its predecessor the Nike Air Foamposite One. The Pro features a similar silhouette, with the differences coming in the form of the side Swoosh and the lack of any Penny Hardaway branding. The Nike Air Foamposite was also given the retro treatment much sooner than the One, being trotted out again at the early part of the last decade.

Some of today’s great inventions started off as accidental discoveries (penicillin and chocolate chip cookies being two of the most celebrated cases of serendipity). This ‘Tie-Dye’ custom, made by TRZackery, was originally intended to be a ‘South Beach’ Custom, placing hot pink dye on the outsoles and the stitches to create a true South Beach theme (the base of the shoe was the Retro Blue version). However, the pink dye didn’t turn out so great, but it did spill over to the upper, creating a funky contrast with the Retro Blue upper. TRZackery decided to build on this mishap by dying the outsoles completely black while selectively adding the pink dye on the upper to create what he calls a ‘Tie-Dye’ motif. It certainly is one of the best multi-colored uppers we’ve seen in a while (much like the scrapped ‘Galaxy’ Foamposites. Like what you see? We’ve got a few shots below so take a look and let us know what you think of this custom accident. via PaintorThread.

The Nike Air Foamposite has come a long way from its original roots. Created to fill the need of a lightweight material that was less labor-intensive during manufacturing, Foamposite technology was developed by John Tawney and Toren Orzeck (he named it ‘Fomposite’) of the Nike Advanced Products Engineering team. Aside from its performance appeal (Foamposite material molded to your foot and the shoe featured Zoom Air cushioning), the Air Foamposite was an instant eye-catcher; as the story goes, Penny Hardaway fell in love with the sneaker the moment he laid eyes on it, and the Air Foamposite One became his. In the year 2011, where most Nike Retro models have more or less taken a back seat to Nike’s more recent performance models, Foamposite has firmly become a fashion culture phenomenon.
Foamposites have always been cult hits in the D.C./MD/VA area, but with so many colorways that have released in One and Pro form, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone that either doesn’t own or hasn’t considered buying a pair. The Air Foamposite has become the ‘it’ shoe as of late, with the focus for upcoming releases emphasizing dazzling and tempting colorways, like Electrolime or even the proposed ‘Galaxy’ sample. One such colorway that’s become a common verbage when discussing sneakers of today is the ‘Gucci’, which is inspired by the signature green/red/green ribbon seen on many of its fine goods. This custom pair of Foamposites, done by sole-swapping mad scientist, Jason Negron, utilizes that luxurious combination, using the ‘Pine’ Foamposite Pro as the base with the translucent outsole dyed a nice shade of red. Other emblems, like the Swoosh at the forefoot and heel, as well as the FOAMPOSITE embroidering on the heel-tab, have also been dyed red for further Gucci effect. Continue reading for a detailed gallery of the Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Gucci’ Customs, and hit up Jason Negron on Facebook to inquire about your own personal custom Foamposites.

With the NBA out of commission for an indefinite period of time, Sneaker News shifts its focus on college basketball, where the sneakers spotted on court are undoubtedly much more appealing than those we see in the NBA. It’s a general free-for-all when it comes to what the student-athletes decide to wear on court (so long as they match team uniforms), so here’s a quick recap of some of the heat that was spotted during the week of November 14th to November 20th; the Air Jordan IX ‘Oregon State’ PE, Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Carolina’, Air Jordan VIII ‘Playoffs’, Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’, and Nike Zoom Kobe VI iD in a sweet gradient upper are just some of the notable pieces of footwear eye candy, so check ‘em all out below and let us know which of the bunch is your favorite! via ESPN.

Is it even possible that another pair of Nike Zoom Rookie LWPs could have stolen the show on a day when a sick Orlando ‘home’-styled colorway dropped among five all-new takes on Nike Sportswear’s Penny Hardaway greatest hits? That depends what you think of the brief glimpse of an all-blue Zoom Rookie worn by Anfernee himself during the release event of his special five-pack at Nike Las Vegas. This event featured our first look at all the new Air Foamposite Ones and Pros we showed you earlier today, and it looks like even more’s on the way for 2012 with a ‘Think Pink’ Foam One peeking through a case that’s been stuffed with about two grand of NSW’s foamy favorites. Check out a bunch of photos from this weekend’s event after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for all the 2012 Foamposite release dates. via US10

The most recently unveiled pair of Nike Air Foamposite Ones came with a ‘What the Foam’ nickname attached to its tie-dyed upper, and judging from the feedback we saw in the comments, ‘WTF’ was an appropriate descriptor. Some have called them the ‘Galaxy All-Star’ Foamposite One, and no matter the name, they’re guaranteed to headline next year’s Nike Sportswear Foamposite lineup. Then again, maybe it’ll be one of the more traditionally-colored editions that catches your eye, like the neon Ones, or maybe you’ll want the silver Pros with red and black trim? Click through to see new NSW Product Cration Lead for Basketball and Football, Gentry Humphrey wearing the Galaxy Foams and showing off several others, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for all the 2012 Nike Air Foamposite release dates. via Justin Amazing//Shoepreme

Here’s a sneaker that folks have been foaming at the mouth for ever since photos first surfaced. The Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Dark Pine’ is just what Penny fans have been waiting for, something a bit more versatile to rock as Fall comes around. No shiny metallic hues or glowing greens and blues here, just a low contrast colorway with a hit of blue via the signature icy soles. Judging by the huge response these have been generating online for months now, we don’t advise sleeping in on the September 2nd release date. Be on the lookout for the Nike Air Foamposite Pro in Dark Pine at NSW retailers like Millennium and if you want to avoid that release date anxiety then grab a pair early on eBay.

With Back-To-School shopping now in full swing, it’d be wise to keep a mental calendar of all the sweet kicks that are scheduled to drop. Most of August is pretty much set up, but you might want to hold out on copping that extra pair of beaters because the Nike Air Foamposite Pro in the Pine Green colorway is going to drop on September 2nd. Grasping the true color on Foamposite material is a tough task because it changes depending on lighting (the Metallic Pewter Foamposite One being a notable fiasco), but here we have a look at what might be the truest form of Pine Green Foamposite; it has a dark, rich tone often seen on Lifestyle releases, but it seems to match well with the wavy lines of Foamposite. Again, these will hit stores on September 2nd, but you can cop a pair a month in advance right now at Kix-Files or on eBay.
