The most recent Nike signature athlete to get in the Air Force 1 Bespoke game is action sports aficionado Danny Kass, who showed off his 1-of-1 Forces yesterday. That snazzy pair featured a black/white floral-like print on the upper with a pecan brown midsole and a hot orange outsole, but based on this latest image from Kass himself, it appears that Kass received not one, but two Bespokes; this second version is a slightly altered version of the one we showed you yesterday, as it features a suede brown toe as well as a light orange Swoosh on the upper. Whether it’s the simple perk of being of Nike-branded athlete or he just couldn’t settle on one design, Kass’ Bespoke is one of the best we’ve seen yet. Which of the two do you prefer? While Danny Kass is indeed a critical member of the Nike snowboarding division you can’t exactly expect the guy to clunk around all day in snowboard boots. When he’s not strapped into a board and bindings Kass apparently does stick with the Swoosh though, recently swinging by 21 Mercer to flex his design skills with the Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke process. And it appears that his status as a Nike athlete just might have afforded him some special privileges as the Bespoke creation looks to be treated with a never before seen floral print on the upper. In late 2011, Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer hosted a special event with New York Knicks star Amare Stoudemire for a Nike Sportswear: Always On campaign; during the event NSW unveiled a sick pair of Bespokes made for STAT, inspired by Amare’s new signature shoe with Nike – the Air Max Sweep Thru. NSW then went on to give away a small number of pairs through a Twitter-based giveaway, but it appears that one of the lucky recipients has decided to part ways with the specially-made pair of Bespokes. These should definitely tickle fancy for any NYK fan, so check out the images below and if you’re ready to throw down the loot, move on to the listing from danposite on eBay.

Last time someone from Sweden’s SneakersNStuff headed to New York to create a Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke design, they provided the world with a video tour of the 21 Mercer Bespoke experience. No such clip this time around but the visuals might be even better as Johnny Balle’s Bespokes come through with one of the more luxurious styles on record. Crafted entirely in a rustic waxed leather, these add more golden tones on the sockliner and gumsole, ivory laces hinting at the rare quality on display. This latest Air Force 1 Bespoke design isn’t as random as the nickname states. The creative team from The Valkyrie Collective recently stopped in to Nike’s 21 Mercer to create a Bespoke Air Force 1 to celebrate the launch of all their brands and grand opening of their Long Island based pop-up shop. For three years, the crew had trouble deciding on an original concept for their design, feeling as if they had already seen “everything but the kitchen sink.” They eventually decided to channel an actual “kitchen sink” in their design by selecting colors and materials that would resemble items one would regularly find around a kitchen sink. The mix of materials like suede, metallic patent leather, lenticular TPU film, cork, and canvas have been put together in a nice clean color scheme that alludes to a sink, with dish detergent, plates, and other kitchen-specific imagery in mind.
In addition to the more literal translation of the theme, the designers’ goal here was to create a sneaker which symbolically represents all the good ideas that got scrapped, and all the bad ideas that went to production; a living history of sneakers in AF1 form. The sneaker world has been through it all: from retro-ing retros to going both forward and back to the future, just about everything but the kitchen sink. Now we can cross that one off the list as well as Stolen Goods presents you with “The Kitchen Sink” Air Force 1 Bespoke. If you’re impressed by Nike’s production of its Supreme-grade models of the Air Force 1, maybe it’s time to move on up to the adult table and hit up 21 Mercer for a pair of Bespokes. Slovadon’s been getting his fill with Bespokes for quite some time as one of 21 Mercer’s most frequent customers, and he hits us yet again with another pair of Bespokes done in the ‘Vachetta’ styling; his last creation emphasized rich leathers and brown/chocolate/walnut, but his latest pick-up focuses on a sportier look with a grey/navy upper, a navy leather-wrapped midsole, and an orange outsole. Another tidbit of Slovadon trivia; he was the winner of the recent FRSHR Than Your AVRGE contest, taking the crown with – what else – a pair of Bespokes. Amare Stoudemire’s arrival to New York City during the 2010 offseason proved to pay off immediate dividends for the franchise and the city. He brought a winning attitude with his ferocious offense, and garnered legitimate MVP consideration for leading the Knicks to playoff contention while standing as the sole leader of the team in the days before Melo. In 2011, Stoudemire was presented with his latest signature sneaker called the Air Max Sweep Thru, which served as the inspiration behind this special Air Force 1 Bespoke, designed as part of the ‘Nike Sportswear: Always On’ campaign. The shoe pays tribute to Amare’s undeniable status as a bonafide superstar, and was given away in limited quantities during Amare’s live appearance at 21 Mercer last December.
The camouflage-inspired upper is taken directly from the Sweep Thru strap, which features the same detail, although for the Bespoke, the pattern is achieved by the iconic Lasering method on a royal blue tumbled leather. Embroidered on the heel is Stoudemire’s nickname ‘STAT’ (Standing Tall And Talented), with the ‘A’ on the midsole colored in orange to distinguish his first initial. The final personal touch comes in the form of the custom hang-tag, which is uniquely addressed to each of the winners of the giveaway. The Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke Design Experience conjures up an unfamiliar outbreak of emotion that very few moments in ‘sneaker history’ can – and it’s most likely because it’s about more than just the shoes. If you can remember the first time you tried on a pair of kicks you were hell-bent on finding or when you serendipitously stumbled upon one of your holy grails during a random late-night search through eBay, then you might just grasp what David Mettoudi, the designer behind this latest Bespoke project, was feeling before, during, and after his session.
This design started with Mettoudi’s desire for pink, black, and grey, and what resulted was a clean and simple colorway that features a unique alternate color-blocking on the lateral and medial sidewalls of the shoe. Aside from the denim, the material used was a soft stone suede, which was a mutual decision between Mettoudi and Bespoke Design Specialist Iz Mateo. Mettoudi briefly and profoundly describes his session with Mateo as “an experience” and that “sharing the thrill” carries as much significance as the shoes do.
