Sneaker News has made a couple mentions of the Nike Air Force 1′s 30th anniversary overshadowing the Air Max 1′s 25th birthday, and what about that other alumni of the class of 1987? We know from our previews a short while ago that we’ll have a spread of Air Safari releases later in the year, and now even more of their signature look as the Air Force 1 iD adds Safari print options next month. As we see on samples of the High and Low versions, the traditional earthy spotted stuff will be among your choices, but what about all the crazy colors we saw starting back in 2008 from Nike Sportswear or more recently from the AF1 Bespoke Experience at their 21 Mercer flagship? Limited quantities of these dropping April 1st on NIKEiD will reveal the full answer, but in the meantime check out what we know to expect from these: black/grey/white with the option for a gum sole, or in other words, pure 2012 style with a bit of ’87 sampled out of respect to a fellow veteran.

Tennis’ next grand slam doesn’t kick off until Memorial Day weekend, but here’s a major victory you’ll only have to wait until next month to relish. The next big thing in 1 of 1 Uptowns after January’s Elephant print extravaganza is the Nike Air Force 1 iD with ‘Tennis Ball’ options. These skip the obligatory Penn fuzziness and opt instead for multiple neon shades with a nicknamed tie in, along with a series of whites, greys and blacks. This means you can make your own ‘Dunkman’ or ’112′ AF1s, or even work in a white-to-black gradient and get a bit of Air Max 95 in there. These are sure to move quckly upon their midnight March 1st release; will you be waiting online to build yours on NIKEiD?

When Sneaker News brought you images of the upcoming Nike Air Force 1 iD samples yesterday, all of them depicted a tonal, almost monochromatic elephant print in a variety of colors with but one single photo depicting the classic dark-on-light grey as was pioneered on the Air Jordan III OGs. Here’s an expanded look at that tonal grey and gumsoled approach to the Air Force 1 Low on NIKEiD, as well as a hightop version that goes with a translucent bottom instead. These two are quite similar, yet different enough to demonstrate some of the blocking options available on both heights when the super-limited 750-pair run opens on February 1st at midnight eastern. Will you choose suede on the rear quarter like the AF1 Low iDs, or maybe you wanna go from toe to heel in Elephant like the Highs? Get your drafts in order because there’s no time to waste once these go live, and click through to see some more of these samples in the meantime.

As of late, Nike iD has been rewarding the Air Force 1 faithful out there with a special new option each month. First it was wool, then premium boot leather and this past month just saw some interesting ballistic mesh and rubber options. Each has been limited to 750 pairs and have all gone pretty fast, but now for the February offering comes something sure to disappear even quicker. Until now, if you wanted elephant print on an Air Force 1, you could check out eBay for one of a handful of previous general releases that dabbled with the beloved pattern, or if you really wanted to go all out, you could always put it on a Bespoke. Now at long last, elephant print will be available on the Nike Air Force 1 iD. While excessive use has slightly diluted the power of the almighty elephant touch over the years, we’re sure that there will be plenty of folks eager to slap some on their AF1′s with the quickness. Look for these to hit Nike iD around the beginning of the month and stay tuned for sample pics coming soon.

Nike iD gave the Air Force 1 some luxurious flavor with the introduction of boot leather and wool material options for the Holiday 2011 season. Kicking things off for the Spring 2012 cycle is the new Ballistic options, giving the Air Force 1 some toughness and grit; for the upper, you have the option of selecting Ballistic Rubberized Leather, while the toe-box, tongue, and midfoot panel can be built with Ballistic Mesh. The only color options for the Ballistic are Black and Iguana, so it’s clear that Nike iD is directing customizers toward a ‘military’ vibe. You can, of course, mix it up with nubuck and leather to create your own themes, but you won’t find out until you head to Nike iD now to figure out your own new colorway (and do it fast, because only 750 will be made)!
