The Air Force 180 got some major shine this year with the Low and newly-built Mid getting some nice attention throughout the second half of 2012. Unfortunately, the High Pump never made it back to stores, but plenty of sneaker customizers – namely Revive Customs – did their part in bringing this incredible bit of Nike Basketball history back to the mainstream. We’re getting a nice treat from the past with this once-in-a-blue-moon look at the White/Night Sky-Goldenrod colorway in kids sizes, so there’s no doubt that these vintage games are as rare as they get! Peep the images below and check out the full listing from fac51hacienda on eBay.

We’re still waiting for that first GITD drop coming up just in time for Halloween, but Nike Sportswear isn’t done showing off new colorways for the Nike Air Force 180 High.  The latest preview features a Cool Grey nubuck upper with a bit of tumbling on the overlay, and with the deep blue accents appearing somewhat purple in these photos, we’re left to wonder whether the iconic ‘FORCE’ branding is red, orange, or maybe even the beloved Infrared as would be such a perfect match for this speckle-soled 1991 throwback.  Have a closer look below, let us know where these rank among the handful of Air Force 180 Highs we’ve seen and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

Nike Air Force 180 Pump “The Admiral” Customs By Revive

Has there ever been an alternate ego as fitting as ‘Revive‘? Dude literally takes shoes on their deathbeds and turns them into brand-spankin’ new designs. Take note, sneaker customizers – there’s more than Angelus Paint involved. This latest custom that Revive dubs as ‘The Admiral’ is a transformation of a pair of OG AF180 Pumps in a colorway taken straight from David Robinson’s Admiral uniform (and peep the multi-colored FORCE tongue that mimics the ribbons). We also get a look at the shoes before they were revived, so it’s even more amazing to see just how skillful Revive Customs really is. More of this amazing revival after the jump, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Nike Air Force 180 High “Gunmetal”

Does it get any better than that speckle fade on the wavy midsole of the Nike Air Force 180 High? Thankfully each colorway we’ve seen to date has slapped that on look on bottom, with this latest pair doing the same to go along with one of more muted uppers in store for the David Robinson retro. The pair packs a solid gunmetal grey for the nubuck upper, sneaking in some white sections here and there to keep things from being all doom and gloom. Hit the jump with us for all the views and let us know where this ranks in terms of the upcoming Nike Air Force 180 High pairs that have been revealed to date.

Nike Air Force 180 High – Grey – White – Black

The return of the Olympic version of the Air Force 180 Low set the table perfectly for the ‘return’ of the Nike Air Force 180 High, as the redone classic sitting on the same midsole returns later this year. With Retro-styled high-top basketball sneakers making a ‘comeback’ of sorts led by the Ewing Athletics line, the Air Force 180 High should make some of its own noise thanks to the crisp colorways like this Wolf Grey/White-Black set to arrive sometime in the coming months. We’ll give you more solid release information when it arrives, but for now enjoy the detailed gallery of this pump-less Air Force 180 High and let us know what you think.

Nike Air Force 180 High Pump – OG “Blue Emerald” on eBay

August 18th, 2012 by | 5 comments

nike air force 180 high white black blue emerald 13 Nike Air Force 180 High Pump OG Blue Emerald on eBay

Earlier this week Sneaker News gave you a nice detailed angle view of the upcoming Nike Air Force 180 High inspired by the original White/Black-Blue Emerald colorway. While the colorways are nearly identical, the obvious discrepancy is the lack of the Pump at the ankle collar, so let’s take a trip to the earlier days of Nike when this super high-top air pump-infused model reigned supreme; the Nike Air Force 180 High was worn by the Admiral David Robinson and featured the high-tech air pump to give the shoe a much more fitted wrap, allowing for increased lock-down stability. As basketball sneakers got less clunkier and more sleeker, the short-lived air pump was no longer used, making these 180 Pumps and the Command Force some of the rarest and most collectible Nike artifacts today. Finding a deadstock pair in this crisp condition is a rare occasion, so check out the gallery below and head on over to the auction from yzer450 on eBay.

Nike Air Force 180 High – White – Teal – Grey – Black

August 13th, 2012 by | 17 comments

air force 180 high wht teal 0 Nike Air Force 180 High White Teal Grey Black

To call the early-90′s era of basketball shoes “bulky” would be a bit unfair. Similarly to how the larger-than-life folks like to be referred to as “big-boned”, these vintage-style sneakers would be better described as “substantial”, but that’s just the way kicks were built back then. Tough, durable leathers, stocky, made-for-terrain midsoles, high-cut ankle wraps – early 90′s Nikes are like the anti-Hyperfuse. So with the Air Force 180 Low’s bigger and more daunting older brother making an “admirable” return later this year, just how well would it fit in with the slimmed-down crowd? We’re certain that extra elbow room will be made for these fellas because although they will be produced in the revised non-Pump version, the Air Force 180 High is indeed one of the greatest ever (and perhaps one of the sickest midsoles you’ll ever plant your feet on). More of the upcoming OG-inspired White/Teal colorway below, so check ‘em out and let us know if you plan on adding these to your Retro stash.
