The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 has enjoyed a renaissance in 2013, appearing in a handful of new colorways after last year’s quieter outing. Here’s another example of the AGM1 rendered in a fresh new style, as Junior’s first namesake Nikes gets the DMP treatment. In other words, this Air Griffey Max 1 comes in a palette with tons of momentum from last year, and stays in step with other recent AGM1s by going with an atypical material mix–in this case, metallic leather and suede. Let us know how these compare to the other colorways on the horizon and stick with Sneaker News for release dates.

The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 is a sneaker that seems to be destined to occupy that strange level of retro-ing wherein a stray new colorway pops up every couple of months. June will serve up yet another, this pure platinum/black/cool grey/pimento combination. The design even brings in some crisp black patent leather for the mudguard, a little detail that we’ve seen more and more often on the pairs that stray from the OG formula. Continue reading to see a few more shots on this Nike Air Griffey Max 1 and keep in mind that you can get them ahead of their early June arrival right now from friw1000 on eBay.

Nike is finding Neo Turquoise packs quite a punch when paired with a bright yellow shade. We’ve seen it expressed on a LeBron X Elite, the first KD 6 colorway, NSW’s Zoom Turf Jet ’97 and most recently, the Air Max 360 Griffey Max. Here, we see the original Junior Max model take on a similar style for kids sizes, as the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 comes through with a sort of hyper-Hornets colorway. Pure Platinum and Midnight Navy make up the majority of the design but the aforementioned blue and its Volt counterpart are the vibrant colors that along with the patent leather mudguard give this colorway its personality. Let us know what you think after seeing more below, then grab yours from Nike Sportswear stores like Oneness.

A bunch of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 colorways issued over the past four years have been accompanied by GS sizes. Considerably fewer were created just for kids, but those that are seem to be leaning more toward ‘girls’ than ‘grade school’. On the other hand, the Digital Pink accents on this new AGM1 are framed in Game Royal and white, and given today’s understanding of vibrant pinks like these as Infrared alternatives instead of a guarantee of femininity, this is a good choice for a variety of young sneakerheads. Check them out in greater detail below, then grab yours at Nike Sportswear stores like Oneness.

The Seattle connection will always be there for Ken Griffey Jr., but this latest colorway of the original Nike Air Griffey Max 1 silhouette suggests a crossover to another sport. With Navy and Neon Green being adorned on the upper, our readers have given the shoe a “Seattle Seahawks” distinction when we last showed these several weeks ago. The Seattle connection is there and a cleated version for the gridiron would certainly look cool on-feet, but anything Nike Griffey will an always be for the baseball-diamond! These are slated for a release at Nike Sportswear retailers like Extra Butter this weekend on the reported release date of May 4th, but see what’s available right now on eBay.

Good news now that baseball’s back – the Griffey OGs are making a return! We recently unveiled to you this Total Crimson/Hyper Blue colorway of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1, but before we go ahead and call these the “Mets” colorway, we’d like to remind you that Griffey once rejected a trade to the Big Apple, citing a desire to stay in Seattle or play for his hometown Cincinnati Reds. Considering how injury-riddled Griffey’s career was with Cincinnati, we’d say the Mets dodged a bullet of sorts, although Griffey would’ve been a nice addition to the NYM roster that made it to World Series in 2000. This enticing new colorway is indeed headed for an official release this Saturday, but some stores have stocked them early, so be on the lookout or cop now from yellownsxt on eBay.

A sudden release of a Blue/Volt colorway of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 was a clear hint that Griffey would be back for the 2013 season. While the wider release info for that colorway is yet to be released, we do know a White/Total Crimson-Hyper Blue colorway is on the way this April 13th; this first look quickly points to a New York Mets colorway with the grey strap and in-step lending to an ‘Alternate’ vibe. Will you cop the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Mets” next weekend? Sneaker Bistro will have these in stock so check out the angles below and let us know what you think.

Last year’s “Safari” pack brought back the beloved Nike Air Safari alongside a Nike Air Trainer 1 that also picked up on the former’s namesake print. It looks like there’s been a little experimentation with other models as of late made to don the same look, as this never before seen Nike Air Griffey Max 1 has a bit of a “Safari” style pattern around the mudguard. No word yet on whether they’ll release or not-are you hoping so? Tell us below and stay tuned for info as it develops on the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Safari”.
