We’ve got good news for those of you rejoicing at the recent redux of Scottie Pippen’s footwear legacy in the form of the Nike Air Maestro Flight. It turns out that Nike is planning on keeping this hybrid model around for a while, with a gang of new colorways on their way for the Summer 2012 season. The three we’re previewing here don’t boast the ultra bright colors of the pairs released this year, with the trio leaning towards a subdued look save for the super blue edition. On the heels of our first look at the Air Max Darwin 360 comes a different take on updating one of 1994′s top Nike Basketball releases. The Nike Air Maestro Flight is a takeoff on the first shoe Scottie Pippen wore as leader of the Chicago Bulls in the wake of Michael Jordan’s first retirement, a shoe immortalized on the league’s biggest stage when Pip rocked an all-red pair to the All Star Game at Target Center in Minneapolis. The overall feel of the new silhouette is quite similar, though longtime heads will notice differences in how the overlay and Swoosh are layered, not to mention the addition of a visible Air cushion in the heel. These upcoming colorways lean toward the early ’90s more than the period during which the OG Maestros were released; does this little piece of anachronism enhance a classic design with palettes that are considered a part of Nike’s ‘golden age’, or will purists be irritated that they didn’t get a simple Maestro retro release? We’re leaning toward the former, and you can see more images after the jump to aide in your opinion. Nike was boasting a murderer’s row of talent on their roster back in the 90′s, so even with the steady stream of retro releases there are some signature shoes that are still in the vault. The Nike Air Maestro is one of those, the sneakers Scottie Pippen was rocking back in the 1993-1994 season-the same season where he locked down the title of All-Star Game MVP. Well, the OG’s aren’t coming back yet so we’ll settle for the Nike Air Maestro Flight, a hybrid model featuring a Max Air unit in the heel and an extension of the perforated paneling on the side. Take a full look at this mostly grey colorway of the Nike Air Maestro Flight after the jump and let us know if you’ll be grabbing a pair from Premier.
