Experienced sneakerheads can instantly spot the Nike Air Magma’s influence on the recently debuted ACG Zoom Meriwether, and with that new model set to hit retailers soon in a couple of fragment design-ed colorways, it’s only right to see the same on its forebear. The fragment design x Nike Air Magma Zip adds one of the Meriwether’s key features to allow easier on-and-off with the notoriously clean Magma, its newly placed medial zippers the first time we’ve seen a color accent on its familiar silhouette other than the laces and lining. Check out Dark Obsidian and Matte Silver suede editions along with a black leather pair in greater detail after the jump and look for these at select Nike Sportswear retailers in December.

Hiroshi Fujiwara’s approach to colorizing Nike Sportswear models can be best described as ‘simple’ – with the exception of that co-partnership with Supreme on those All Court Lows. It’s the lifestyle-based models where Hiroshi truly shines, mastering the clean and simple motif with great colorways, but he manages to throw a bit of excitement as seen on this Nike ACG Air Magma. By using a bone grey tonal upper with a unexpected bright yellow zipper on the medial wall, the Fujiwara-led fragment design completes this Air Magma with individualistic perfection that has garnered his label a reputation as one of the best in the business. We showed some aerial shots of these last month, but here we have a look at some better angles, so take a look and let us know what you think.

The team at fragment design usually strays from the stereotypical silhouettes when collaborating with Nike. Over the span of 2011 for instance, lead designer Hiroshi Fujiwara has been going in on a batch of tennis classics. Switching it up again here, fragment turns to the Nike ACG line. The source here has this one billed as a Nike Lava Zip, but on closer inspection the swooshless side definitely seems to be that of the Nike Air Magma. This OG boot from Nike ACG gets the standard suede treatment, shown here in a steely grey. Fragment brings a more modern look with the addition of a side zipper, visible on the medial wall of the shoe. Check out the full look after the jump and stay tuned with Sneaker News for more info and pics on the upcoming fragment design x Nike Air Magma Zip. via Tenisufki

We’ve all got our fair share of retro trainers and runners, but sometimes there is a need to switch it up for something a little more rugged. Think of the Nike Air Magma as NSW meets ACG, a boot offering that maintains a stylish look through the use of clean leathers. The Nike Air Magma doesn’t get bogged down with bells and whistles, with the upper consisting of a couple different cuts of leather with a nice embossed Nike logo towards the back end. Continue reading for a better look at both pairs, which are available at Premier and of course on eBay.

The Nike Air Magma was built like a rugged SUV, ready and willing to partake in any outdoor activity. Over the years, there was a growing category of the ‘luxury’ SUV, a vehicle that was suitable for wear and tear, but built for those with a higher standard of A-to-B movement. That’s where this new colorway of the Nike Air Magma fits in; the Magma was originally an All Conditions Gear shoe (and it still is), but this black leather version shows us that even the most rugged of shoes can appeal to lifestyle crowd – all it needs is a ‘luxury’ treatment. White contrast stitching is used on the upper as well, as is a dark khaki colored set of laces and tongue, a white midsole, and the Nike logo molded into the heel of the shoe. Check out the images of the Nike Air Magma ND in black leather below and let us know what you think. Thanks to fatboykickz.

If the Nike Air Magma is known for any one design characteristic, its the nappy suede that makes up their vamp for most releases. That’s why it’s so interesting to see a caramel brown smooth leather on this new pair, a model that retains the Magma’s signature contrasting laces despite the radically different feel imparted by the lack of nappiness. Click through to see how those blue laces give these a cool feel and expect them at US Nike Sportswear retailers shortly as they’ve just come in stock at Nike Harajuku.
