The Nike Air Max 1 was Tinker Hatfield's first Nike Air Max design. It is the first sneaker to feature visible Max Air and debuted in 1987. It is considered by many to be one of the greatest sneakers in history, and continues to be a coveted item in its various special edition colorways, limited issues, and collaborations. After an initial release at certain spots overseas, the Nike Air Max “HomeTurf” Collection is indeed coming to the states, with each “City” being released in consecutive weeks. Nike’s starting things off with the “Milan” Pack, which features the Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 97, and Air Max 2013 in awesome colorways and materials. Nikestore and 21 Mercer are confirmed release locations, so keep those spots in mind when these go up for grabs tomorrow or skip the lines and get one of the already-released pairs on eBay.

The upcoming 4/20 “holiday” has served as a channel for some of the most memorable themed sneaker releases over the last few years, with most of the sticky kicks coming from the skate-shoe category. The Nike SB Dunk High “Skunk” is undeniable one of the most memorable of all-time, so Air Max creative JWDanklefs (or Dank for short) teamed up with Decade Footwear and rolled up this sick Nike Air Max 1 “Skunk” Custom, featuring the familiar green/purple colorway of the ’87 silhouette. The shoes are a one-of-one and will go up for sale via auction tomorrow night and will run for one day, with overnight shipping bringing the shoes to the customer just in time for the weekend festivities. What will the Nike Air Max 1 be up to later on in 2013? Following up on the all the OG treatments that happened in the first half of the year, the sneaker looks to be suiting up in a set of all new colors for the latter. Granted not all of them are new to the Nike Air Max line as a whole, as one of the ’87s in here looks a lot like the classic “Neon” colorway of the Nike Air Max 95 (One that’s been ported over before thanks to Dave White). So Nike Sportswear’s been putting out 101 colorways of the Nike Air Max 1 every season or so, and while it may seem like overkill, they haven’t missed with a colorway yet. This Black/Midnight Turquoise colorway placed on this Essential-grade model is a head-turner for sure, with that “Hold Tight” combo of Black, Grey, and White given a nice boost with Midnight Turquoise and the lighter aqua hue on the outsole, Air unit, and lace eyelet above. Concepts has these in stock at the moment so check out the extra angles below.

We recently showed you the tonal-black leather-built Nike Air Max 1, and although the shoes were a rather minimal and simplistic affair, some interesting details surround the shoe. First off, Nike calls these the Nike Air Maxim 1, which Nike reintroduced as a revised version of the Nike Air Max 1 back in 2009 with lightweight Flywire-laden upper panels. Secondly, these are a WMNS release, which may leave some of the male AM1 nuts disappointed. Regardless of the fact, these are definitely one of the cleanest Air Max(im) 1s we’ve seen, and a very limited run just popped up at SneakernStuff – so keep an eye out for a restock on their site or a release elsewhere.

A clean, all-white shoe still holds high value even in today’s sneaker game, especially when placed on one of the most honored silhouettes in the history of footwear. This Air Max 1, like the Black/White we showed you last week, is definitely of a Premium built, with a fully leather upper lined with the same material on the interior and insole giving this once Running revolutionary even more of that Lifestyle appeal. These are indeed a women’s release and are dubbed as the Nike Air Maxim 1 (a bit confusing considering the Air Maxim 1 is the same shoe that Nike introduced in 2009). Sneakersnstuff has a very limited stock available now, but be on the lookout for a release at select NSW retailers soon.

Some more Nike Air Max 1 releases from the Essential category are headed our way, with this preview of upcoming Summer/Fall 2013 drops giving us some good insight as to what to expect on NSW stores shelves later this year. Five basic colorways with white-mesh toeboxes are on the way, with simpler materials (generally found in the Essential category of Air Max releases) providing us enough variety for Air Max 1 pick-ups for both the men and the ladies.
