The last Nike Air Max 2006 Leather profiled here on Sneaker News featured a colorway we naturally associated with the Swoosh-supported University of Oregon Ducks. This latest edition shows that not all green and yellow sneakers have to fit that mold, though the earthy shades on display in this Cargo Khaki and Canyon Gold mix indeed a natural reflection of the Pacific Northwest. The most organic and arguably versatile style we’ve seen since the AM2006 returned in the casual Leather build earlier this year is depicted further after the jump and available now at FinishLine.

We were surprised when a Sport Red-bubbled Nike Air Max 2006 Leather arrived at retailers in May, but the following white/silver colorup made perfect sense as one of many such summertime looks. The latest pair also has some clear timing behind it, as the University of Oregon Ducks look arrives on the precipice of another season with top-5 preseason ranking expectations. You could also take the Speed Yellow hits literally, and then you’re a red lace away from imagining a world in which Usain Bolt and the rest of the dominant Jamaican sprinters rep the Swoosh. More photos await your click below, so let us know how these compare to the other Air Max 2006s we’ve seen this year as well as its 2012 younger brother, and grab yours today from Finish Line.

Among the reasons the Air Max+ 2009 is considered a modern classic is its pioneering use of a totally uncaged full-length Max Air unit. This innovation can be seen as the culmination of decades of work, starting with Frank Ruby’s original encapsulated Air bubbles, Tinker’s Air Max 1 ‘mistake’ and another leap represented by the silhouette pictured above. 2006′s Air Max 360 (I) was the first to give us Max Air from heel to toe in just a single airbag, so it’s particularly interesting to see that model’s upper paired with the advanced cushion for which it was a stepping stone. The Nike Air Max 2006 Leather applies a luxurious build of this streaky design and places it atop a Sport Red sole for that impeccable ‘bred’ mix that’ll have these building up ‘sleeper hit’ status now that they’re available at Nike Sportswear dealers like Titolo.
