Nike Sportswear’s latest City Pack finds new sources of inspiration by adding Honolulu and China’s fourth largest city to old favorites London and Tokyo.  This new Nike Air Max 90 EM ‘Tianjin’ shines some light on a major metro area many outside of Asia might not know very well, but the ultra Air Jordan IV-esque black, grey and red plus midsole speckling will be more than enough to establish for the rest of the world a major city that’s larger than every single US metro area save NYC and LA.  Let us know how they compare to the other three mentioned above after you take a closer look below and stick with Sneaker News for their release dates.

Nike Air Max 90 Engineered Mesh “Infrared”

Several of Nike’s original runners are making a comeback starting this December in one of these forms – original, VNTG, or EM. The Air Max 90 and the trademark ‘Infrared’ will be available in both the VNTG and Engineered Mesh form – the latter of the two shown here; Engineered Mesh is a newly formed textile that reduces weight, promotes ventilation, and maintains structure – all while providing a visual spin thanks to the jersey-like perforations, and when added to the classic Air Max 90, Nike recreates the iconic staple using its advanced-tech innovation. These are hitting stores at the start of 2013, so don’t let these slip out of your mind because a pre-order from Euro shop Titolo is now live.

engineered mesh unveiled Nike Officially Introduces Engineered Mesh

Nike will unveil its latest textile creation called Engineered Mesh beginning in January, taking form in Nike’s most iconic running footwear in history. While Engineered Mesh, or EM, will be used for its performance running footwear, Nike Sportswear will implement the breakthrough innovation onto classics like Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 90, using EM on zoned areas to mimic the color-blocking and gradient patterns on the originals. This women’s colorway, inspired by the original ‘Laser Pink’, will debut in January as part of Nike Women’s Spring/Summer 2013 Collection, so check out a full-shot as well as some close-ups below and stay tuned for more updates from Nike Sportswear’s running catalog.

OG Air Maxes again? Not quite. For 2013, Nike Sportswear will re-introduce the Nike Air Max 1 and 90 in their flagship original compositions with a rebuilt ‘EM’ upper (that’s Engineered Mesh for those who haven’t been following). It seems like an odd pairing to put together a re-engineered material fit for contemporary running models paired with suedes and leathers of the past, but it’s exactly that old-meets-new build that makes the Air Max EM releases worth checking out once they hit stores in Spring 2013. A nice multiple-view gallery awaits you below so take a look and let us know what your thoughts are on this ‘EM’ style of classic runners.

The Nike Air Max EM ‘Sunset Pack’ we showed you a couple of weeks ago hinted at a quiet comeback of themed Air Max releases, like this ‘City Pack’ that is set to drop in 2013. This colorway represents the city of Tokyo, with a Black/Green/Neon colorway matched with a Black Speckle print on the outsole (when’s the last time we saw speckle-print on an Air Max 90?). It is certain that other cities will be included in this City Pack of EM Air Max 90 builds, so check out the gallery of images below and stay tuned for more updates on the Air Max 90 EM ‘City Pack’.

Nike Sportswear will introduce Engineered Mesh ventilation on some of its best-loved classic runners next year, and perhaps the best test of their integration into the canon of greats is the challenge of handling sacred original colorways.  The Nike Air Max 90 EM puts a new twist on the OG ‘Infrared’ palette that defined an era, stripping out the distinctive grey mid panel in favor of all white above the classic black leather mudguard.  Let us know how this tweaked look compares to the silvery Hyperfuse edition that just dropped and the pre-yellowed VNTG edition also slated for early 2013, and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

Nike Air Max 90 EM “Laser Pink”

nike air max 90 em laser pink 1 Nike Air Max 90 EM Laser Pink

The upcoming VNTG and EM renditions of Air Max classics act like opposites of one another, with one going the rewind route and adding some aged yellowing and the other upgrading the build with Engineered Mesh. You won’t really miss out whichever side you land on, especially with this first look at the OG ‘Laser Pink’ colorway of the Nike Air Max 90 EM. Unfortunately, this colorway is just a tad off from the OG as the Swoosh and heel badge are black instead of the original blue, but the laser pink serves up an almost-Infrared punch that make the Air Max 90 such a standout. More angles are right ahead so take a look and we’ll update you on both the VNTG and EM Air Max models that are set to arrive in 2013.
