NIKE AIR MAX 90 HYPERFUSE The Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse is a contemporary upgrade to Tinker Hatfield’s classic Nike Air Max 90 runner. The Hyperfuse paneling is used on the upper in place of the traditional leather and mesh approach, creating a seamless look. The most coveted colorway to date has been the ‘Infrared’ mimicking the most popular blocking of the original Air Max 90.

The Nike Sportswear Hyperfuse campaign will continue next summer, as we get a look at four upcoming colorways of the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse. While we have yet to see any OG renderings of the AM90 Hyperfuse (outside of the limited release of the Crooked Tongues collaboration of the Infrareds), these new color-ups utilized the tonal motif that seems to work exceptionally well on the multi-layered sneaker. Two-toned colorways seem to be the go-to formula for these, so expect more of that variety in addition to the four colorways seen here. Need another look? Halfway around the globe, New York City-based cultural influencers DJ Clark Kent and photographer Jonathon Mannion, who were in town for Mannion’s photo retrospective at Stussy Japan, stopped by Nike Harajuku for some overseas Nike iD sessions. As expected, DJ Clark Kent selected the Nike Air Force 1 Low, while Mannion went on the experimental offensive and selected the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse – one of Nike iD’s most recent inclusions. Another item to note is the apparel worn by the guests of honor; Clark rocked a throwback Nolan Ryan Astros jersey, while Mannion proudly wore the Stussy x Lafayette t-shirt that was made specifically for the gallery event. Earlier this month, Sneaker News brought you perhaps our worst event recap story ever. It’s not that the CrookedTongues BBQ 2011 wasn’t a dope event, in fact, quite to the contrary judging by the London retailer’s sterling reputation and one heckuva exclusive freebie. But while the news that the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse ‘Infrared’ was only for giveaways at the backyard bar-b-que might have made attendees feel quite special, it meant to the rest of the entire world that one of the all-time great silhouette/colorway combos would be unavailable to the general public for one of the most natural tech updates Nike Sportswear has created.
Well, for all the ‘half full’ and ‘silver lining’ folks out there, there is indeed a bright side to this sad story, and it comes in the form of a ’2-A-Day Giveway’ via Twitter. All you’ve gotta do to enter is break out your personal best and snap a shot of them on your feet along with the #ctnswbbq2011 hashtag, or alternatively, post ‘em on the CT Facebook group page or on their site’s own ‘Today I’m Wearing’section. Get creative with your submissions and send ‘em in along with your UK-converted shoe size between Monday the 19th and Friday the 23rd, and be sure to come back and post a comment to make everyone jealous if you’re lucky enough to secure the most exclusive pair of Infrareds ever.

Ranking right up there with Memorial and Independence Days, the first Monday in September is strongly associated with outdoor eatin’. In celebration of Labor Day 2011, Crooked Tongues managed to secure a special exclusive sneaker for their bar-b-que, and fans of Nike Running will instantly be doubly crushed as they head back to work today and realize that the above pictured model will probably never be closer than these images. The Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse ’Infrared’ isn’t exactly a CT-NSW collabo, but that the OG colorway from this iconic design could only be obtained by winning the contest held at the Crooked cookout is clear evidence that this was THE party of the weekend. This teaser treatment is not all too dissimilar from the OG Varsity Blue colorup on the Air Max 1 Hyperfuse; would you have bought them both had they hit retail? This high-tech construction process has found its way onto just about every classic Nike silhouette you can think of in 2011, and the Nike Air Max 90 seems to take the upgrade particularly well. The Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse is already available on Nike iD but trust us, you don’t wanna overlook Nike Sportswear’s in house designs like the monochrome solar red version seen here. That’s right, you won’t find a spot of anything but solar red on this one, with the signature see through air bag on the back end being the only break in the tones. The Nike Air Max 90 will join the Air Force 1 this fall as Nike Sportswear applies its Vac-Tech molded construction to a variety of classic silhouettes, but first, a new colorway from the Hyperfuse update series. This new Air Max 90 Fuse utilizes an all-neon colorway similar to the WMNS drop that we saw last month, though those were cast in the newer and yellower High Voltage shade whereas this pair comes in the classic Volt. Nothing in 2011 has come close to the sheer expanse of last year’s Nike Sportswear Air Attack Pack, but here’s a new release from one of this year’s signature collections that would have fit that group nicely.
