Special edition sneakers are increasingly showing up with elaborate back stories and themes attached to helped build their mystique. This has been going on for years now of course, but in 2014 it seems to be at an all time high – nearly every stray Nike Basketball colorway or random pair of Dunks eventually is given a nickname (Either by the brand themselves or by sneaker enthusiasts across the internet). So what trends emerge in this process of associating shoes with objects and places relating to a player’s life, a partnering store’s history, or a lost bit of trivia regarding the model in question?

Nike Air Max 90 GS – Grey – Blue – Green

It’s been quite a while since we checked in on any Nike Air Max 90 GS styles – hopefully the small footed among you can forgive us for that transgression. The GS version of Tinker’s classics seem to do a bit of a better job at maintaining the true shape than say the GS Air Jordan pairs do, which we’re sure has been a cause of celebration for plenty. Sticking with that shape is this new pair that wears grey, blue, and an almost volt-looking green. See the sneakers in better detail after the break and stay tuned should they show up here in the US.

It’s changed a little bit of late, possibly due to the variety of updated versions available in recent years, but the Nike WMNS Air Max 90 has just released a new style the likes of which were very common at the start of this decade. Specifically, we’re talking about taking an otherwise unisex colorup and applying some kind of shiny pop, and in this case, we have a range of teal shades with white, and instead of grey, a glossy metallic silver. Click in to see a few more shots, then find yours at shops like Titolo.

Nike Air Max 90 – White – Black – Turbo Green

April 26th, 2014 by | 1 comment

nike air max 90 white black turbo green Nike Air Max 90 White Black Turbo Green

It would take a real Air Max aficionado to remember that the Nike Air Max 90 has actually combined white, black, and turbo green on a random inline offering from a couple of years back. This 2014 take on that specific color equation has some key differences though – for one it’s the Nike Air Max 90 Essential build. On top of that, the shoe allows for a little bit of neutral grey according to the box tag (The bag on bottom is our best guess for the placing of that shade). See the shoes again below and then check out Shelta who has them on deck for you now.

Nike Womens Air Max 90 “Speckle” – White – Metallic Silver – Turbo Green

nike air max 90 speckle white metallic silver turbo green Nike Womens Air Max 90 Speckle White Metallic Silver Turbo Green

Nike Sportswear seems to have had more all-white sneakers as of late than usual. Both the Nike Huarache and the Nike Roshe Run showed up with pure white sheen and some gridded mesh sections, a fate which seems to have been just narrowly avoided bt the Nike Air Max 90 you’re looking at here. Once the Swoosh starts on the upper then the silver begins to creep in, with the mudguard and sole kit only letting the white show up in a speckled motif. Click through to see the rest of the shots on these and pick them up at Titolo today if you approve.

Nike Air Max 90 Breathe – White – Wolf Grey – Volt – Black

We’re not expecting every Nike Air Max 90 Breathe colorway that comes along to line up perfectly with a classic Nike Air Max 90 release, but sometimes the comparisons are inevitable. If we had to pin down a parallel for this one it would be the Nike Air Max 90 “Maize”, a yellow tinted joint that has a slightly different orientation with respect to the brighter hues and the greys. This particular build has been pretty quiet so far in the states, but the available number should balloon once the “World Cup” city pack starts to trickle into stores. See these Volt Air Maxes with us after the click and drop your two cents on them down in the comments seciton.

The Nike Sportswear “City Pack” that’s coming sticks with remixed version of NSW standards for the most part. The Nike Air Max 90 is represented in part by its ICE variation, as shown by this pair that’s intended for New York City. The shoes feature a graphic overlay for the first time that we can remember on the ICE version, with a polka dot pattern touching the upper.
