Japan’s mita sneakers continue to usher in hybridized Air Max styles with their stamp of approval, prepping up a collabo pair of the Nike Air Max Humara next. The release gets the familiar mita treatment consisting of elephant print and grid-like mesh, a little bit of ostrich leather eveb hopping in up front for the toe bumper to further diversify the textures of the upper. The classic Terra Humara runner has one of the more distinctive Air bubble frames in history, opting for a sort of proto-Alpha dotted window instead of the more traditional AM1 style or even the wraparound and full-length cushions that’d become popular by the time of its 1997 debut. Fast forward fifteen years and Nike Sportswear introduced a slight variation featuring a sole borrowed from the division’s faux retro niche, this latest release also incorporating a subtle camo print we’ve seen on other recent NSW drops. This Nike Air Max Humara is covered in a ‘snow day’ camouflage that looked dope on the Air Max 90 PRM and belies the explosion of 3M reflectivity revealed in the right lighting. Stick with Sneaker News for all your holiday shopping and release dates and get off to a good start with this new Air Max Humara available now at Caliroots.

Back before the sneaker blogosphere, before smartphones and before broadband, sneakerheads used to have to turn to print magazines like Vogue to get an inside look at the industry. It was in that venerable fashion mag back in 1997 that Nike designer Peter Fogg discussed his inspiration for the timeless Terra Humara trail runner, a model whose influence can still be felt to this day. Not only is Jordan Brand about to release a new style with obvious inspiration from the Terra Humara’s distinctive eyestay, but the original has been revamped with a new cushion that gives the Nike Air Max Humara a fresh look. Somewhere between the Air Max 90 and 94, the Air Max Humara’s three-windowed heel cushion is an eyecatching anachronism, particularly in pink on this pair currently available for pre-order from Titolo.

Shoes like the Air Jordan III and Air Foamposite One have given fellas like Tinker Hatfield and Eric Avar a small-time celebrity status, but let’s not forget that man responsible for some of Nike ACG’s greatest designs – Peter Fogg. While trail-runners are typically bulkier and perhaps awkward-looking compared to the sleeker Running shoe, Fogg is responsible for bringing ‘sexy’ back to Nike’s off-road kicks, whipping up classics like the Terra Humara, Minot, Tupu, etc.. Fogg’s Terra Humara gets a face-lift of sorts with the Air Max Humara, which adds in a vis-Max midsole from the Air Max Correlate. Expect the Air Max Humara to make its in-store debut this September as Hanon will begin to accept pre-orders for this model beginning August 1st, so peep the extra angles of this OG-inspired colorway below and let us know what you think.

The Nike Air Terra Humara was a sneaker already outfitted with everyone’s favorite bubbly running tech when it made its debut, as evidence by the nomenclature, but apparently they weren’t quite bubbly enough to get a 2012 retro of their own accord. Instead the model has been retooled a bit, riding now on a more straight forward window borrowed from the original visible air sneaker the Nike Air Max 1. Click through for a look at three colorways of the new Nike Air Max Humara that are on their way for Holiday 2012 and let us know what you think of the continued process of upping the air on Nike ACG models.
