In late August, Nike Basketball presented the ‘Battle of the Boroughs’ at its seasonal hooping court on Rivington St. in the Lower East Side. During the event’s championship match-up team Harlem and team Brooklyn suited up in some insane Hyperposites with colorways inspired by the city; last November, Nike Basketball released the much-praised Statue of Liberty joints, but no release information has been confirmed regarding the blue/orange pair. Perhaps these may never make it out to store shelves, considering the ‘STAT’ PE has already released? If you’re hunting around for these traditional NYC joints, cop this rare size 10 right now from lucious2323 on eBay.

We recently hit you with release information for the ‘Statue of Liberty’ joints, but what about these Knicks-inspired NYC joints? Unfortunately, no info has surfaced, but with basketball season in full-swing and the Knicks playing at a top level, these have to be as hot an item as we’ve seen right now. Colored in classic Royal and Orange with an NYC print done “all-over” style on the upper lace placket, the Hyperposites are near the top of “waiting on a release date” list. You can, of course, disregard all of that and place your bids in on this par from airmaxkid on eBay.

New York City is often credited as being a footwear tastemaker for the U.S., so it only makes sense that the excitement surrounding the Hyperposite was vastly heightened by the two sick colorways designed after the Big Apple. One of the two NYC editions was colored up in the iconic Blue/Orange combo with a graffiti-style NYC print on the upper, worn by Team Harlem of the Battle of the Boroughs that went down in mid-late August. Sneaker News offered you an exclusive look at these NYC joints, and while a release date hasn’t been confirmed (November might be the target month), one lone pair has become up for grabs from msbeautygeek on eBay.

The flipside to the ‘Statue of Liberty’ colorway of the Nike Air Max Hyperposite is this ‘NYC’-specific mix of orange and royal blue with an ‘all-over’ NYC print on the Hyperfuse panels on the upper. This colorway was worn opposite the ‘Statue of Liberty’ colorway by the Harlem squad in Sunday afternoon’s Championship Game of the Battle of the Boroughs at Nike’s Rivington Court in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. No confirmed release has been set, but for now, check out these exclusive images of the Nike Hyperposite ‘NYC’ here on Sneaker News and stay tuned for potential release information!

What color truly represents New York City? Is it the green color of the Statue of Liberty? Maybe the yellow and black streaks of taxi-cabs whizzing by? Perhaps the neon lights of Times Square is what truly depicts the five boroughs, or the candy red for the Big Apple. Above all those iconic color combinations stands orange and blue – a sublime colorization that represents the New York Knicks, the New York Mets, and everything else ‘blue collar’ about the rugged concrete jungle known as NYC, so when one of the squads of the ‘Battle of the Boroughs’ Championship Game at Nike Rivington NYC this Sunday laces up to defend their turf, they’ll be rocking this NYC-specific colorway of the Nike Hyperposite. With the unmistakable Blue and Orange mash-up with ‘NYC’ lettering splashed all over the lace collar and insole, will these stand toe to toe with the ‘Statue of Liberty’ colorway? We’ll keep you on pace with potential release information on this colorway, so check out the gallery below and let us know what you think.
