The Florida Miami Marlins unveiled new logos, team colors and uniforms to celebrate the opening of their new ballpark, and despite the immensity of the ‘South Beach’ theme, the Marlins’ new getup is more OKC Thunder than MIA art deco. But that doesn’t mean that the infamous turquoise and pink look won’t make a connection with the current baseball season, and now a Nike Sportswear classic trainer will join the Air Max JR we just showed you in the same style. The Nike Air Max NM reminds us that while neither Junior or Hideo Nomo ever played for the former Florida fish, this is a colorway that looks great on just about any silo, irrespective of context. Click through for a closer look, let us know how this compares to the AMJRs and grab yours at NSW retailers like Concepts, who got theirs a bit earlier than the July 3rd official release date.

Nike continues to recollects its 90′s gems with the Air Max NM, introduced once again here in a never-say-die Black/Red colorway. Compared to the previous Soar/Cyber colorway, this Black/Red appears more aggressive with the fierce colorblocking – the red mesh underlay acting like the bloodied remains in the Air Max NM’s shark-teeth design. The NM is certainly one of the funkier sneakers of the 90′s, but that’s certainly understandable because the sneaker was designed with Hideo’s Japanese heritage in mind. This classic yet approachable colorway will hit stores soon – what are your thoughts? Photos via socialstatus

A funky delivery meant funky shoes for Japanese pitching sensation Hideo Nomo, who took the Major Leagues by storm by winning the 1995 Rookie Of The Year award. It was rare to see an Asian-born pro-baseball player, so Nike quickly outfitted him with some signature shoes like the Air Max NM, which to this day is one of the most uniquely designed Nikes of all-time. Nike’s decision to bring back the NM has resulted in a slew of new colorways, like this energetic Soar/Cyber colorway, which we previewed back in early January. You can find these now at select Nike Sportswear retailers like Extra Butter, so take a look at more angles below and head to your local Nike purveyor to get yours.

Though Hideo Nomo’s peak in Major League Baseball was a blink compared to Ken Griffey Jr.’s sustained brilliance, the two are forever united in sharing ‘baseball’s most popular’ title in the mid ’90s. This led to the them sharing a Max Air cushioning platform for their 1996 Nike trainers, and now some sixteen years later, a color scheme. This new Nike Air Max NM in bright blue with neon accents offers a reprisal of the OG Total Griffey Max 99 colorway soon to hit retailers, or to borrow from another Griffey classic, 2009′s Volt-accented Air Griffey Max 1. This is the kind of electric colorway on a slightly obscure Nike Sportswear retro that’s going to be a big hit this summer; let us know how they compare to the OGs and other new Air Max Nomo releases when you click through to see more photos. via Kinstor

With spring training for the MLB just about ready to start, the retro arrival of this OG colorway of Hideo Nomo’s signature sneaker seems serendipitously timed. The majority of retro releases for this silhouette have been noticeably more high-energy than what is shown here, usually cranking up the color with a hit of volt here or gold there. This pair lets the white base do the shining, slipping in some reds on the jewled side-Swoosh and along the outsole. It’s hard to imagine the Nike Air Max NM ever eclipsing the Griffey line in terms of retro-popularity, but colorways like the white/obsidian/red shown here certainly don’t hurt it’s chances in that quest. Follow us after the jump for some extra shots and cop these now from Oneness.

The return of the Air Max NM struck the right chord for the baseball x sneaker crossover fans, but here’s something for those who are less Hideo Nomo and more Jennie Finch; this new womens colorway of the Nike Air Max NM comes in a fitting Black/Pink colorway for a vivid punch on an aggressively designed training shoe. February’s already a packed month with sick releases, but if you need more pink kicks for your rotation, the WMNS Air Max NM will hit retailers this month - Oneness is reporting their own in-store release tomorrow, February 4th (expect these in GS, PS, and Toddler sizes as well). Check out the extra angles below and let us know if this is the best Valentine’s Day inspired set of kicks we’ve seen thus far!

Hideo Nomo has a special place in baseball history, being one of the first Japanese players to make the permanent move to the US and thus opening the door for a wave of subsequent MLB transplants. Of course he also has a special place in sneaker history, having one of the only baseball centric signature shoes to really make a splash outside of the Griffey line. So when Nike Sportswear decided to crank things up with the Griffey releases, it was only fair that the Nike Air Max NM got a little love as well. And that in turn has become quite a lot a of love, with OG colorways and retro versions alike. The latest is the black and white pair here, with the jewled center swoosh coming in university gold. Follow as after the jump for the in depth look at this Nike Air Max NM, which will be showing up soon at NSW accounts like Mr. R Sports.

Hideo Nomo first followed in Ken Griffey Jr.’s footsteps over fifteen years ago when his Nike Air Max NM came to market sporting almost the exact same multi-cushioned sole setup as Junior’s legendary Air Griffey Max 1. Both players’ careers took a variety of twists and turns after that 1996 connection, and it’s taken quite a while to see more imitation, aside from the recent run of Nomo retros from Nike Sportswear in the wake of a hugely successful Griffey revival. So when you start to see a bunch of new colorways from the AMNM and then this design reminiscent of both 2009′s AGM1 and the OG Air Total Griffey Max (also set to hit retail this year), it’s only natural to see a stronger correlation between these mid-’90s baseball trainers. But few shoes of any genre can match the Air Max NM’s unique lacing setup, which looks even wilder with all-Volt through the tongue area while contrasted by the crisp royal blue upper. Did the best Nomo signature come out some seven years after his career was over?
