One of the must-have Air Max Retros for 2013 is the Nike Air Max Plus – the late 90′s classic that introduced Tuned Air technology to the world of Running footwear technology. Tuned Air took advantage of varying PSi in the Air bag engineered specifically for Running – a concept used even today with the latest Air Max+ 2013 engineered Air bag. This OG “Orange Blaze” colorway comes back with slight color variations, with Tour Yellow and Team Orange providing the insane lava-like gradient on the upper. These are headed for retailers very soon so refresh your memory below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates.

The trendy camouflage print is pretty much everywhere nowadays, so ironically, it’s the plain-colored shoes that would probably be easier to spot on the street. Camo is hitting even the most obscure models (in today’s standards), but those who are in the know realize that the Nike Air Max Plus is a sure-fire classic – we even picked it as one of the 25 iconic Air Max shoes in a recent feature and one of our own editors picked it as one of his personal favorites of all-time. While Tuned Air is no longer in business, it fiercely shaped the way Air Max is done today and inspired the specially-engineered Air bags to be more specific to sport. These two Foot Locker EU exclusive releases utilize a camo-like print on the upper in two distinct colorways, so check them out below and do some overseas shopping if you need these.

With the Air Max Light and Classic BW slowing their pace of late and the Air Max 97 a traditionally sporadic contributor, the Nike Air Max Plus has emerged as Nike Sportswear’s top classic runner for the European market.  EU customers enjoy a steady stream of exclusive styles, the latest of which treats the model also known as ‘Tuned 1′ a Pure Purple-accented black and silver makeup.  The historical connections between America and the Eurozone create a subtle subtext for this ‘Kings’-leaning colorway, which you can see in greater detail below before you get a pair exclusively at Foot Locker EU.

When the retailer in question describes a shoe as their own “signature shoe [that] symbolizes the strong collaboration between Nike and Foot Locker,” you know they’re taking this release seriously.  The latest Nike Air Max Plus comes to us as a subtly intricate tribute to fifteen years since it debuted in 1998, this Tuned Air flagship crafted in black with a golden carbon fiber weave overlay and just a hint of red in the heel cushion.  Have a closer look at the shoe also called Tuned 1 after the jump, then make your way to the only place that has them: Foot Locker EU.

foot locker art prize winner Foot Locker Art Prize Contest Winner

Foot Locker is no stranger to sneaker-centric competitions, having just this year created a 3-point shootout online game and run a March Madness contest, but their latest was by far the most intensive.  The Foot Locker Art Prize was dubbed ‘The World’s Richest Colouring Competition’ thanks to the $50,001 grand prize afforded to 24 year old Brisbane, Austrailia native Kalin Thompson on the strength of his ‘Forbidden Fruit’ work.  The insane Nike Air Force 1 Mid Thompson design was hailed by noted customizer and artist Dave White as “A complete knockout,” and it earned him the cash prize along with a 1 of 1 Air Force 1 based on his work as designed by Sekure D.  click through to see what 400 hours spent on a shoe design looks like and let us know how these works compare to the other sneaker-themed art we’ve seen here on Sneaker News.  via SF
