The Nike Air Max Span has a new colorway that reminds us while the design has been updated, this model traces its roots back a quarter-century. This Air Max Span Vintage treatment comes with a traditional mix of white, Neutral Grey and black along with an unnamed red shade that looks familiar enough to be of the Sport or Varsity variety. It’s not quite as popular as the Air Max+ flagship series or some of the recent LunarLon lines, but the Air Span has indeed been going strong for eight models over a quarter century. We haven’t seen a proper retro treatment for the original, but new for 2013 is an updated version featuring a visible Air cushion as we might have seen it around the time of the OG’s 1988 debut. The Nike Air Max Span bridges that gap, appearing today in a white/grey/black neutral stance that you’ll find available at select NSW spots like JD Sports.

With the return of the Nike Air Base II and other early-generation Air Max models making a comeback, there was strong indication that the Air Span would make a comeback as well. It may be still in the works, but what’s here to hold us down is this Air Max design featuring an Air Span-inpsired upper and a Max Air infused midsole. We know the purists are scoffing at the idea of this type of release, but the Retro essence is still there, isn’t it? JDSports just stocked this new model so check out the images and let us know what you think.
