When the classic combo of black and yellow shows up on a sneaker it can represent a number of different things for different people. If you’re a hip-hop head it’s the Killa Beez look, if you’re a runner then it’s LIVESTRONG, and if you’re dating Amber Rose then you’re positively giddy that they made another sneaker just for you. Whoever you are, we should all be able to agree that it looks downright dope on the new Nike Air Max Ultra, a shoe that’s quietly been one of the best from this year’s Air Max lineup. Here the glowing ‘tour yellow’ completely wraps up the sole, and permeates through the upper beneath the outer forefoot layer, as well as showing up on the back end. New Balance just released a black and yellow runner in commemoration of this year’s New York City Marathon, borrowing a colorway that in recent years had been more commonly associated with endurance races of the bicycle variety.  But the ‘Wu-Tang Clan’ colorway seems up for grabs now that the LIVESTRONG x Nike collaborations are utilizing different color combos for a breath of fresh air, which means that this new Nike Air Max Ultra that would have been an excellent LAF candidate, to stand on its own.  The bold, high-contrast palette is just the kind of thing you need when you’re out running during the grey winter days; how would you rank them against the other pairs that’ve already released?  Click through so you can see more and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date.  via SF

Black and red Nike Air Max Alpha?  Been there, done that, got a second pair on ice.  But a red and black Air Max Alpha?  Yes, please!  Let’s have a closer look.  This new pair is somewhere between the tonal blue edition and the recently released black/Metallic Silver in terms of colorblocking, the Hyperfuse construction giving one pause and the urge to look a bit longer to determine if the darker sections are indeed black or if their coloring is a function of the ventilation.  Click through to see more close-ups that confirm it’s the former and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for updates on these and all the other upcoming Air Max Ultra release dates.  via SF

Nike Running has offered a huge range of dope designs in 2011 including several LunarLon cushioned kicks and three distinct takes on Max Air cushioning.  The flagship Air Max+ 2011 has enjoyed its fair share of colorways and the AM Alpha 2011 was a nice surprise, the third with a bubbly sole and Hyperfuse upper pictured above.  The Nike Air Max Ultra has just dropped in a new colorway that’s one of those palettes that seems to look good on just about every performance sneaker, Metallic Silver on the upper plus black accents that could result in an ‘Oakland Raiders’ tag.  But it’s also the kind of neutral look that almost anyone could appreciate, and they’re available now at Eastbay.

With 360 Max Air cushioning as the foundation, you’re already halfway down the road toward an awesome shoe. 360 Max Air began with the Air Max 2009, but since then, it’s been used for Nike Trainers and Nike Sportswear releases, because it’s just so darn comfortable. Not long ago, Sneaker News broke the news of the Nike Air Max Ultra – a 360 Max Air cushioned runner with a ventilated, seamless upper, and many of our readers were quick to warm up to this performance-first sneaker release. Nike has a penchant for reaching back to older models for design inspiration, and this one is no particular exception as it resembles some late-90′s early-00′s releases like the Air Tuned Max and Air Max ’99. Finishline has a pre-order up for the Black/Metallic Silver-Sport Red colorway, so check out the extra images below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates.
