After getting the OG colorways out of the way first (actually, the other two are slated to drop this Saturday), the Nike Air Mission moves into new territory with the first new styles since the shoe debuted some twenty years ago. This one is done in one of the more popular pairings to emerge in that interim period, a tonal black mix of leather and nubuck sandwiched in Volt for an eye-catching design that shows off a new blocking combination. Click in to see how this new template highlights the classic turf training midtop, then cop yours ahead of this Saturday’s official release from eBay.

The Nike Air Mission’s retro treatment is one that will not be focused solely on bringing back colorways of old. You already saw the Oregon Ducks version of the shoe, now check this black and volt pair that again makes the model look just a bit more contemporary. The volt shade is one that always had its strongest connection with the realm of runners, but at this point it’s not too surprising to see it cross-categorically. Get a load of the rest of the photos after the break and then pick up an early pair now from 95soleman on eBay.

“That’s Junior Seau’s footprint, man!”

At long last, some twenty years after the original releases, the Nike Air Mission turf trainer is about to get a proper retro treatment. This model is remembered for its connection with the late Junior Seau, which along with the memorable commercial quote above from Dennis Hopper, adds a bittersweet nostalgia to this long-lost classic. Here we have two more of the original 1994 colorways, including one to please the masses in black and white with a blue Swoosh and another in the OG Air Diamond Turf neighborhood that foreshadowed the collision between Seau’s Chargers and the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX. Check out both in more detail after the jump and stick with Sneaker News to see when US retailers have theirs; the Japan drop happens next Saturday, the 11th.

It was announced back in June that the Nike Air Mission would get a retro release in 2014, but for the past four months or so, not a word.  These are still coming up for the first quarter and today three colorways make an appearance including two we expected and another new addition.  That pink/white colorup might turn out to be a GS edition, or perhaps it’s more of an Atomic or Infrared.  Stay tuned to Sneaker News for the latest on the long-awaited return of the trainer connected to Junior Seau and let us know which of these three you’d consider buying.

nike air mission 1 Nike Air Mission Retro

The Nike Air Mission will be the latest in a long line of 90s Nike models meant for the gridiron to make its return. The sneaker was not a signature silhouette per se in its original form, but they were associated closely with fallen San Diego star Junior Seau who wore them on the regular during his heyday. Is the model one that you’ll be picking up for a second go-round or is the whole trainer retro category a bit crowded for your tastes at the moment? Tell us down in the comments after you check out a couple more quick catalog scans that promise the sneaker’s return.
