Nike already applied the Shield Collection touch to the usual suspects for a new pack of weather-proof runners for the holiday season, and now we see the Swoosh take stock of the fact that the sky nastiness will continue for several more months and we want more color options. Enter the ‘Bright Crimson’ Shield Collection, an accomplished quartet of cutting-edge running models whose coloring is roughly reversed from the above mentioned HO12 drops, opting for red up top and a soft grey midsole to match the Vintage Box-ish tongue tag. The Nike LunarGlide+ 4 joins the LunarEclipse+ 2, Pegasus+ 29 and WMNS Free Run+ 3 in this style you can see in more detail after the jump, then find yours available now at NikeStore.

Even the most functional of runners can be tough to put on pavement at times, the inclement weather threatening to run through your fancy Nike+ enabled kicks. That is, of course, unless you’re running in something from the Swoosh’s souped up Shield Collection, a group fine tuned to beat out the weather with rain and cold resistant materials. The sneakers to get the treatment this time around are the Nike Air Pegasus+ 29, Nike Free Run+ 3, and Nike LunarGlide+ 4, each one also sporting some flashy reflective touches to keep you visible out there. Click through with us to check out the six pairs set to plant the flag for this iteration of Nike’s shield approach to runners and get your pair now at Nikestore.

Nike Running connected its most cutting edge designs with the look of a classic ‘Vintage Box’ release when they issued the first Shield Collection last fall in grey and orange. This year’s update sees the grey tones swapped for something more in line with 2012′s top colorways, as a black-based design adds reflective elements and vivid green soles to models like the new Nike LunarGlide+4, Free Run+ 3, Air Pegasus+ 29 and Lunarspeed Lite+. All four should arrive next month with Durable Water Repellant material to keep the winter weather out while you stay at the peak of your game, so be sure to check back with Sneaker News for specifics on the release and click through for more in the meantime.

Nike’s foundation, built on running, has supported quite a wide variety of sports. Some of the most popular sneakers of all time were originally running shoes (Air Max 1, Cortez), and although there are much more suitable sneakers out there right now (this Air Pegasus+ 29, for example), the running heritage stays strong in all of Nike’s footwear. For the USATF Trials, currently under way in Eugene, OR (y’all should hit up Tracktown Pizza if you’re ever in the area), Nike has composed a set of great colorways of the Air Pegasus+ 29 in two White/Blue/Red renditions; both are available right now for USATF members, but this June 5th, they’ll become available to the public on the USATF store. Additional views of the Air Pegasus+ 29 below, so take a look and let us know what you think.
