nike air revolution safari air assault inspired Nike Air Revolution Safari Air Assault Inspired

The Nike Air Revolution is on its way back, prepared to make its return to sneaker shelves with no shortage of OG looks attached. It won’t be an all traditional affair though, as evidenced by this sort of “Safari” looking take on the 1988 basketball silo. Or you could call it a Nike Air Assault looking take, as the print wrapping those upper sections is just a little bit more in line with the likes of that model, another child of 1988. Continue reading to get all the angles on this Nike Air Revolution take and get your hands on them next month at stores like Crooked Tongues.

Nike Air Revolution VNTG QS

nike air revolution vntg qs Nike Air Revolution VNTG QS

Is the return of the Nike Air Revolution looking not quite OG enough for you? If you answered yes to that question, then this Nike Air Revolution VNTG might better suit your needs. The pair puts on the hate it or love it VNTG touches, albeit pretty minimally. There’s none of that pre-yellowed misdole stuff going on, although we’d have to guess that the bottom has a little bit of that whited out oxidization. Continue reading to see the full images and stay tuned for release info on this Nike Air Revolution, which is part of a greater group of VNTG Nike Sportswear releases that are on their way.

Nike Air VNTG QS Pack

nike air vntg pack qs summary Nike Air VNTG QS Pack

We knew the Nike Air Revolution was returning in 2013 and now here’s the release info for the first drop.  The Air Revolution reaches back to its 1988 OG ‘Tech Grey’ makeup, and while the VNTG treatment with subtly pre-yellowed midsoles is as unexpected as the colorway, it’s the two packmates that make this most intriguing.  They don’t necessarily have the most direct ties to the Revolution, but the ’Auburn’ Air Trainer SC High and ‘Citron’ SC II are themselves known as Bo Jackson signatures (and both available fairly recently).  One classic basketballer and two cross-training pillars come together with light antique touches this Friday, June 14th, so stick with Sneaker News to see if the trio hits shops in addition to Overkill.

air revolution safari Nike Air Revolution Safari

The Nike Air Revolution‘s return will not be a solely OG affair, because mixed in with the likes of the original colorways will be some newer takes on the sneaker. Take this pair for instance, one that appears to sport an enlarged “Safari” looking print for the upper. Of course if you want to keep things within the realm of basketball sneakers as far as inspiration for this particular pair goes you could also mention the Nike Air Assault, a shoe that was seen sporting a colorway pretty similar to this together with the requisite safari print. Give us your two cents on the Nike Air Revolution “Safari” and watch for them to show up for July at spots like Crooked Tongues.

Though you might see the iconic midsole tooling and think this shoe borrowed from the Air Jordan III, the Nike Air Revolution beat the ‘other’ Tinker Hatfield Air Pack basketballer to retail by a few months.  1987′s Air Revolution is back for the first time in about five years, and along with OG colorways, we can expect new styles like this casual-leaning beige-mudguarded rendition.  Stick with Sneaker News because none of the Air Revolution release dates are confirmed as of yet, but they shouldn’t be too far off.

If you’re a Swoosh historian than the combination of the words “Air” and “Revolution” could mean a couple different things.
