Another throwback to the 80′s (or 1987, more specifically) is in the works for 2013, as we get another look at an exciting Retro return of the Nike Air Revolution in a White/Red/Black/Grey colorway. As the first Nike Basketball shoe to feature Nike Air in visible window form, the Nike Air Revolution is as a significant icon in the Nike catalog as any other, so expect a rather strong response to these when the Revolution officially hits stores later this year as a Nike Sportswear offering. As promised by a group of catalog shots at the top of the year, the Nike Air Revolution is indeed coming back. Those 2D renderings are finally joined by a set of photos on the finished product, a slightly underrated sneaker that comes with the same tooling on the bottom as the Air Jordan III. This first Nike Air Revolution colorway dresses up in a combination of game royal, white, black, and cool grey-keeping things in line with the one-pop color style of its day. The Nike Air Max 1 has been widely celebrated for being the first-ever Nike sneaker with visible Air. Another shoe model that doesn’t get nearly the same amount of props is the Nike Air Revolution, which is credited for being the first Nike Basketball shoe to feature the window of cushion; coincidentally, the first Air Max television ads in ’87 featured the Beatles smash hit song called – you guessed it – “Revolution”. This game-changing sneaker in the timeline of Nike hoops paved the way for other historic models like the Air Jordan III and IV as well as the Air Flight ’89 and Air Ascension High, so why can’t the Revolution get any love? This Summer, you’ll get a chance to relive that era of Nike Basketball as a slew of new colorways are slated for release, so peep what’s soon to come below and let us know if you’ve got appreciation for this iconic model.

Nike Air Revolution Sky Hi

Most easily recognized with the Dunk High, the ‘Sky Hi’ gave the shoe almost a wedge-like design, combining the sportiness of the Dunk with feminine appeal. It appears that the next model to receive this designation goes further into the archives with the Nike Air Revolution – a certifiable Nike hoops classic but a relatively unapproached model by NSW. This first look features the remodeled Revolution with a wedged sneaker silhouette, but the original details like the Safari print and ankle strap remain. Ladies, would you rock these?
