Nike is synonymous with its Air Max running series. And while New Balance or Asics heritage releases might have the tightest correlation with suede and mesh atop time-tested wedge soles, it’s not like Beaverton just came up with the most influential line of running sneakers out of thin air. Models like the Nike Air Solstice predate the Tinker Hatfield era, and Nike Sportswear is doing a great job of giving these veterans the spotlight they deserve with premium builds like this latest Quickstrike. Let us know how this Court Blue Solstice compares to the ‘Reflective’ QSes that hit last year, and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

Nike Sportswear outfitted three fairly different retro-ish silhouettes with two colorways and a fair amount of reflectivity applied to each, and the first duo has just arrived in stores. Foreshadowing upcoming Air Apprentice and Revelstroke drops with the earthy holiday season looks, the Nike Air Solstice has never looked better than these new Premium leather and mesh makeups. The Hasta, Seaweed and Henna pair in particular stands out for its similarities to the murky all-green ‘Dunkman’ LeBron X, and you can see photos of that pair plus the Team Brown edition below before buying at top-tier NSW retailers like SNS.

Its very name a reference to the transition between seasons, Nike Sportswear’s latest faux-retro running design comes forth with a new duo well-equipped to handle the shorter winter days. These new Nike Air Solstice Premiums come through with a look we’ll also see on upcoming Air Apprentices (and to a lesser extent, the new Air Revelstroke boot), monochromatic leather with perforated outlines in lieu of traditional sewn-on Swooshes and the extra impact of reflective 3M underlays. Have a closer look at the almost-black and burgundy styles after the jump below and stick with Sneaker News for US release info.

Our first glimpse of what was to come back in July suggested all-leather builds, but we’ve come to know the Nike Air Solstice better in a combination of suede and ripstop nylon. This classic pairing coupled with pre-yellowed detailing on the midsole gives the Solstice a classic vibe despite the fact it debuted this year as the latest in a niche of Nike Sportswear faux-retro styles. This pair has an almost grey/navy look to it against a solid black background, but referencing the official colors and looking a bit closer, it’s clear we’re actually dealing with a couple earthy shades of green-brown and black suede on the branding elements. Have a closer look for yourself below, then pick these up at NSW stores like Afew.

Fresh onto the scene with a familiar style comes the latest Nike Sportswear faux-retro runner whose classic build would have plenty of sneakerheads picturing the early ’80s V-Series. The Nike Air Solstice honors the pre-Max era with a vintagey silhouette wholse sole is a bit more advanced than your average three decade veteran. This timeless blend of greys plus Thunder Blue and a vertical ‘NIKE’ heel badge keep things casual and provide a foil for something like the Lunar Vengeance; which angle on reimagined classics do you prefer? These new Air Solstices should arrive at retailers like Hanon in August and you can pre-order today if you like what you see below.

Nike Sportswear debuted the Air Max Correlate earlier this year, but it’d been a while since they were at peak production on similar faux-retro running styles. The Air Max Skyline and AM Command have long since departed the regular rotation, their spots taken by even more ‘lifestyle’ designs both new and revamped. The new Nike Air Solstice Premium gets us back to that classic running vibe, but these push even further into the history books with a look reminiscent of the early ’80s Tailwind and V-Series styles. Check out grey and black pairs after the jump, let us know how they compare to your favorite casual styles and stick with Sneaker News for updates because they just arrived at select Asian retailers like Limited Edt.
