Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders is no stranger to the Nike Sportswear retro circuit, but fellow Canton inductee Dan Marino had to wait a first driver’s license to get his most famous trainers brought back to retail. And with today’s more varied releases, it only makes sense to port over a colorway we’ve seen on so many of those Deion Sandals, as the San Francisco 49ers’ red and gold meet up with the Nike Air Max Speed Turf. We can’t help but feel the implication following the recent ‘Cowboys’ colorup, that especially with Miami colorups at an all-time high, a ‘Dolphins’ Diamond Turf style can’t be too far off. But let’s not pull a replacement ref and mistake the matter at hand: the ’49ers’ Air Max Speed Turf was slated to arrive on October 10th but has already touched down at Rock City Kicks.

There’s little doubt that the Nike Air Speed Turf Max colorway that will go down as the most celebrated is the already retro’d Dolphins-style colorway, a nice little Dan Marino pair with plenty of historical background. The pair shown doesn’t have that sort of story telling to lean on but grabs at an NFL palette nonetheless, going for the Dallas Cowboys colors which just might spark up a little more interest than normal thanks to that first victory of the season chalked up against the New York Giants. Follow us after the jump for a better look at this Nike Air Speed Turf Max colorway and be on the lookout for them at Nike retro hotspots like Rock City Kicks.

The return of the Diamond Turf IIs was a treat. Bringing back the Pillars? Nice touch. But the finishing blow for Trainer/Turf fans just might be this Saturday’s release of the Nike Air Speed Turf Max – the 90′s Trainer tied to the great Dan Marino’s name and beloved as one of the best meant-for-hardcore-training shoes ever created. This OG colorway of Black/White-Voltage Yellow is certainly the crowd-pleaser with its true-to-form styling, so we can already make the assessment that 2012 is one of Nike’s best years of Retro – and there’s roughly five and a half months to go. These are arriving at retailers like Extra Butter so check out these new ‘aerial’ shots below and stay tuned for a release this Saturday.

The Diamond Turf II re-release from earlier this year was enough to keep 90′s Trainer fans plenty happy, but why stop there? Arriving later this month is the first-ever Retro release of the Air Max Speed Turf – one of the most popular Turf Trainers of the decade recognized for its bountiful selection of strapped and Maxed out Trainers – but following that OG Black/White/Neon is this new Metallic Silver/Black-Pine Green colorway in August. It features a Metallic Silver upper with Pine Green accents at the heel and forefoot, with a solid grey outsole for that true ‘Turf’ appeal (and we can already feel the DMV area rumbling with excitement about these). Stay tuned to Sneaker News for more release information on upcoming Speed Turf Max releases (like the Dolphins), but circle your calendar for August 11th for these joints!

Nike Sportswear continues to bring us long lost heat with more and more classic cross trainers finally getting their due with retro releases and new colorways. The Nike Air Turf Speed Max pictured above is somewhere in between, a near dead-on replication of the 1995 original black/white colorway whose Voltage Yellow Max Air unit is the tiniest bit less green than the OGs. Perhaps it’s a tribute to the ’95 Pittsburgh Steelers’ improbable Super Bowl XXX run, but even if that’s only a coincidence, a cult favorite like this in the colors that’ve won more Lombardi Trophies than any other is sure to be a hit. Check them out in a couple more shots after the jump and let us know if this July 21st release will make your back to school shopping list.

Believe it or not, the DNA behind the Air Speed Turf Max is shared with the Air Yeezy 2, which Nike officially unveiled earlier today. The Yeezy was inspired by 90′s Cross Training sneakers in mind, but obviously the Air Speed Turf Max had an evolved design that was rooted from the earliest Air Trainer. This upcoming 2012 release is sure to be one of the best Retro releases of the year – or at least that’s what the hundreds of ‘Likes’ from the last time we showed you these Dolphins joints signifies. If you’re part of the lucky population that can rock the Nike sample size, your day just got better; a size 9 sample of the Air Speed Turf Max ‘Dolphins’ just because available, so take a look at the extra shot below and cop this sample from blind15d on eBay.

If you grew up feasting on the tank-like turf trainers with chunky mid-foot straps and terrain-stomping midsoles, this upcoming Retro release is going to fatten you up quite nicely. Sneaker News dropped the first catalog views of the Nike Air Speed Turf Max – one of which was the original White/Black/Teal/Orange colorway that we’ve come to recognize as the ‘Miami Dolphins’ colorway (Marino wore these in the 90′s). It’s got everything that makes a Turf Trainer perfect, with the aggressive design, sports-car like branding of NIKE and AIR along the body, impeccable placements of the Swoosh, and quite frankly one of the best colorways we’ve ever seen on an athletic sneaker. Extra shots of this upcoming Retro release below, so take a look and let us know what you think! Photos: ix_eleven

Last time we had a look at this exciting new Nike Air Speed Turf Max the New York Giants connection was made, but for our readers outside the Empire State you can easily ignore the black sections and think of them as a periphery entry into all the Olympic hullaboo coming out of Swoosh for the summer. With so many other anticipated trainers being brought back to life in 2012 can this turf styled pair stand out and grab the crown the same way the Nike Air Trainer SC II did last year? Let us know what you think in the comments and if you are so inclined this Nike Air Speed Turf Max is available early from skit_japan on eBay.
