Earlier today Sneaker News gave you a look at a ‘New York Giants’ colorway of the Air Speed Turf Max, but don’t fret Raider Nation – Nike whipped up something that would be perfect for the Black Hole. Check out this sick Grey/Black colorway of this 90′s Nike Football banger, featuring two shades of the muted grey with pitch black accents on the upper. The regional specificity of this Summer/Fall release is quite clear, but what makes these extra special is that you can rock these with any jersey in any city – that’s just the beauty of grey/black kicks. Is there really a lot to complain about in 2012? Sure, prices have gone up and synthetic leathers aren’t as supple as the real thing, but Nike’s focus on bringing back some of the best sneakers from the pre-Y2K era is paying off for the older sneakerheads, who live and die by the White/Cements and Nike Turf Trainers of the world. Luckily for us, both of those have been brought back this year, and Sneaker News first dropped images of the Air Speed Turf Max Retro, slated to hit in the Summer/Fall season. This first look at a White/Black/Blue/Red colorways absolutely screams ‘I GOT A RING’ as it features a perfect New York Giants outfit that’ll certainly be a popular pick once these hit stores (perfect to match your new Nike NFL uniforms and gear). Last year’s trainer retro of the year hands down had to be the Nike Air Trainer SC II, but it’s looking like the crown won’t go so easily to any given contender in 2012. Yes the release schedule is jam packed with strapped up goodies from 90′s era Nike, one of the more exciting being the Nike Air Speed Turf Max. Shown here is the first look at the 2012 version where else but on the feet of Wale, longtime acquirer of early sneakers. We’re all awaiting a more detailed look, especially of this fan favorite Dan Marino colorway, but for now these shots will have to do. Like Eli, Nike just ‘did it’. Welcome back the Nike Air Speed Turf Max, possibly one of the greatest releases in the 90′s Nike Football era. It comes equipped with everything we loved about mid-90′s Nike Trainers – Max Air on the heel, a sleek midfoot strap, and a super-aggressive midsole design; we commonly associate the OG White/Teal/Orange/Black colorway to Dan Marino, long considered one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game. Arriving in 2012 is the Nike Air Speed Turf Max in the OG Dolphins colorway and the OG Black/White colorway (but with a silver Max Air unit – the original was neon green). Also dropping alongside those two originals is a Navy/White colorway and a Grey/Green color-up. The Air Speed Turf Max has been one of most high-demand Retro releases for a while, but will that translate to box-office success, given the moderate success of recent Trainer Retros?
