Sneakerheads new and old can rejoice as the original colorways of the Nike Air Trainer SC II High are set for their long-awaited return tomorrow at select Nike Sportswear retailers. The Air Trainer SC II is an all-around crowd-pleaser for its iconic design, but for some reason, it has taken nearly 20 years for a proper retro release. Those who might not have been around when the Trainer SC II was in its heyday got a thorough preparation with all the newer colorways that dropped earlier this year, but now it’s time to get your hands on the Bo Jackson-approved OG’s. A Sneaker News favorite, the Air Trainer SC II High, featured months back in our Classics Revisited segments, will not be sitting on shelves for long, so plan accordingly. Only a few sneakers can be categorized as ‘universally loved’, and truth be told, the Nike Air Trainer SC II High teeter-totters on the border. While all older-generation sneakerheads can’t seem to wait to get their hands on the Retro releases of the original Air Trainer SC II colorways, the younger cats who weren’t even around during the early 90′s Trainer era might not have any emotional attachment to them – they might just cop ‘em because, well, they’re simply sick looking shoes. It’s all a cycle for Nike sneakers, and while the sneakerheads with seniority will say “You know, I was around when they first released”, maybe a few years down the line, today’s generation will say “You know, i was around when they retroed”. These are officially hitting stores on September 2nd and select Nike Sportswear retailers like Premier, so check out the extra shots below and grab a pair early on eBay.

This model looks just as the original did in 1990, but instead of the OG Infrared accents, this new release utilizes orange to achieve a similar, yet strangely novel effect. The Nike Air Trainer SC II High (and most of the 90′s Trainers) are attributed to bright neon colors, like the OG Neon/Teal and the Infrared versions that made this shoe so popular. Along comes the tonal black (what we in the sneaker community like to dub ‘blackout’) colorway brings the shoe back down to its barest form, emphasizing the design of the shoe without being distracted by superfluous (although admittedly pleasing) colorways. The ‘Blackout’ colorway of the Air Trainer SC II High just recently dropped, and it’s certainly a worthy pick-up as a hold-over until the true OG colorways hit stores. Good things come to those who wait, and for those who sat patiently for the Nike Air Trainer SC II High, it’s been a long twenty years. The Air Trainer SC II High returned to store shelves earlier this year, bringing a smile to eager Nike Trainer fans who may have given up on a comeback of the SC II. Since the re-introduction of the Nike Trainer in 2009, Nike embarked upon a huge forward push of Nike Trainers both new and old, and when the Air Trainer SC was re-released two years ago, a Retro release of its follower seemed more and more possible. Well, the Air Trainer SC II High is here and OG Nike fans have found a rejuvenated sense of fandom, giving them all the more reason to cop as many colorways as possible, because who knows when the next Retro release would be. This new White/Grey/Black colorway follows the simple color-blocking seen in the OGs, and can be yours by visiting one of the auctions from JBseller on eBay.
