What do the Nike Mag 2011 and Nike Air Trainer SC II have in common? Both were well worth the 20+ year wait. The Trainer SC II is considered to be one of the best Nike Retro releases of the year, and after being teased with a slew of new colorways, the two original colorways finally dropped earlier this month, and immediately sold out at the hands of sneakerheads of the older generation. Most spots have cleared out their stock already, but Nikestore just stocked both colorways, so don’t drop the ball and pick up a pair before they’re gone, or snag a pair now on eBay.

We’re not in the business of telling you which kicks to like best, but there does indeed seem to be a correlation between experienced sneakerheads and a strong attraction to this model. People ‘in the know’ have been waiting for this one for what seems like an eternity, the Nike Air Trainer SC II finally about to retro in the original colorways from 1990. The above pictured model isn’t a true OG but does indeed retain the classic colorblocking, Team Orange appearing in place of the classic Infrared. Click through to see more angles and let us know if you plan to get these at an NSW retailer like SoleFly, if you’ll wait to get one of the OGs next week, or if you’re a Trainer fanatic and simply must have them all.

The word ‘vintage’ has a variety of specific connotations depending on context, but in the case of Nike Sportswear, it typically indicates pre-yellowed laces and soles and classic construction touches. But taken in a more general sense, ‘vintage’ means classic, and in either case, NSW has you covered with this new shipment that just arrived at New York’s Extra Butter. The senior member of this quartet is a Nike Blazer High VNTG in Medium Grey suede, a model whose colorway is not radically dissimilar from the Air Trainer SC II that’s also hitting shelves. Rounding out the group are one new pair each of the Air Max 1 and AM90, and you can see images of all four when you click on the jump below.

It was last year that Nike Training released the ‘Vintage Box’ Trainer 1 as an homage to the Swoosh’s classic packaging, and though this pair isn’t directly related, they’re certainly close in more ways than one. The latest Nike Air Trainer SC II has that same orange, black and grey combo going on, albeit with the added lightness from a large white section, a difference you might see as offset by the diagonal striping on the lateral heels. They might not be explicitly linked with the Vintage Box concept but if you were playing the Kevin Bacon game with that Trainer 1 as your jumpoff, these are one degree separated in a variety of ways. Click through to see more and look for these at select Nike Sportswear accounts like Villa this September.

Trainer fans rejoiced earlier this year as Nike finally brought a long awaited model back out of the vault, the Nike Air Trainer SC II. Fortunately, the retro treatment on this fan favorite isn’t over, as we’ve got images of another Nike Air Trainer SC II set to drop towards the end of the calender year. This gun metal get up keeps things serious, with a mixture of blacks and cloudy greys that will go well with the dark days of winter. With most of the OG colorways coming in colorful flavors, even Bo knows that it’s about time this trainer was released in some more muted tones. Hit the jump for more photos of this Nike Air Trainer SC II, which is scheduled for a holiday 2011 release.

Another week of new sneaker releases are upon us, but have you kept on pace? It may be difficult (and at times, pesky) to keep up with all the fresh releases, but that’s what the Sneaker News Weekly Buyer’s Guide is here for – to give you a quick rundown of what’s fresh out of the oven. Nike SB’s June 2011 releases just became available (that ‘Send Help’ SB Dunk Mid is looking great) as did the Grey/Neon colorway of the Air Max JR. If you’re looking for Retro trainers, this week brought in a new colorway of the Air Trainer SC II High and an OG colorway of the Air Trainer Max2 ’94. We’ve also got a quick preview of what’s hitting stores this weekend, so check out this week’s Buyer’s Guide and let us know what you’ll be copping!

Much ado about nothing? Later this year, Nike will release a Nike Air Trainer SC II High colorway similar to the OG colorway (yes, teal on the inner lining and tongue will become available), but still, a heated debate sprouted when Sneaker News showed you a sample pair of the White/Dark Grey-Neutral Grey-Citron colorway. Trainers always seem to be a touchy subject when it comes to Nike’s current attempts at producing ‘true’ retros, but considering the age of the shoe, the evolving manufacturing practices of the brand, and the fact that a Air Trainer SC II High retro has never been done, you have to allow some elbow room – especially with a shoe with one of the most techy designs in Nike history. Given the colorway, these are more of a Neon Air Max 95 version of the SC II High, so check out these new detailed images (with an open mind and heart) and pick up a pair now on Eastbay.

The return of the Nike Air Trainer SC II High was like a fully-blossomed rose – with ample thorns. While the upper design remained close to the original, critical sneakerheads were quick to point out the disparity in materials, particularly the replacement of the super-tensile strips used on the outrigger and heel with basic ribbon-like material, as well as the non-OG colorways. However, a shoe this beloved won’t disappoint, and this new colorway of White/Dark Grey-Chlorine Blue should ease a few of those pains; the tongue, inner lining, Max Air unit, and forefoot outsole features the dazzling Chlorine Blue with a rugged mix of White and Dark Grey on upper. These just became available at Nikestore so take a look below and let us know what you think.
