Can you imagine what sort of frenzy would immediately be whipped up if the Nike Air Yeezy 2 were to appear in a festive ‘Christmas’ colorway? While you certainly shouldn’t count on that happening, there’s no harm in wondering what it would look like, right? Hinting that is this new “sneaker cube” illustration from Pawel Nolbert, which smashes up Kanye West’s design into a boxy shape. One of the most well-respected and oft-visited sneaker stores in the NYC boroughs is Moe’s Sneaker Spot, and just 1.5 years after opening up their new location in Astoria, Queens, they’re ready to expand within the borough yet again to Glendale. That’s right – Moe’s will release a select number Air Yeezy 2s in both the Black/Solar Red and Pure Platinum at box price. Sneakerheads around the world continue to amaze us with their amazing ideas made realities by Nike iD. This latest iD creation comes in the form of the Air Max 1, done ‘Pure Platinum’ style after the groundbreaking release of the Air Yeezy 2. The grey-based upper is matched with a white denim twill mudguard, a vibrant red interior, and a green outsole that at some degree, mimics the ‘Glow in the Dark’ outsole. Have you ever had to make a massive move and whittle down your sneaker collection to a fraction of what it once was? We’re pretty sure that he didn’t do away with the rest of his collection, but it looks like Gilbert Arenas had to go through that sort of agonizing packing for his recent move out to China. Mache’s Nike Air Yeezy 2 custom recently reminded us that around the time of release for that event sneaker, there was plenty of talk circulating about that Kobe-looking scheme being a third retail colorway. It appears that that’s not entirely out of the question, Nike arbiter Gentry Humphrey leaking out some info on the possibility via Twitter and assuring one inquisitive sneakerhead that things are “still in the works” for the Air Yeezy 2. The sneaker community is still recovering from the massive release of the Air Yeezy 2, with the prospects of a new colorway still swimming around in the collective mind. While a third Air Yeezy 2 drop will shake things up for the Holiday season, nothing’s been confirmed as of yet. Taking matters into his own hands is custom crusher Mache Customs, who flipped a pair of the original Air Yeezy 2 (presumably the Wolf Grey colorway) to match the quizzical Kobe x Air Yeezy 2. It’s another spot-on product from Mache, with the exception of the Solar Red inner lining (the actual Kobe version has a light purple lining. A full shot of this custom is just ahead so take a look and let us know if this is Mache Customs’ best work yet.

What exactly is a hypebeast? It’s a term that’s been around for over a decade and happens to be the name of a well-respected urban culture/streetwear e-publication, but it isn’t necessarily used as a term of endearment. If anyone can remember those ‘hypebeast’ drawings from 2004 and beyond (an annual piece-by-piece detail of such an individual), you’d be well aware that a hypebeast is an uncontrollable animal feasting on whatever is ‘hot’ in materialism – mired in a cycle of ‘following’ and perhaps devoid of individual taste.
According to artist and sneaker customizer ROM The World, two sneakers that might’ve coerced the inner extreme hypebeast is the Air Yeezy 2 and the Nike Mag 2011; using his distinct style, ROM has created two awesome pieces of artwork titled the Yeezy 2 Hypebeast and Air Mag Hypebeast, in which he transforms the sneakers into rabid creatures ready to devour anything hype-worthy in sight. The NBA is overflowing with both explosive talent and serious sneakerheads, but Nate Robinson stands out as the only three-time Slam Dunk Contest winners with a diverse and attention-grabbing sneaker rotation to match his high wire act. Kryptonate has shown up in too many notable styles to mention here, and his latest offseason appearance is the shoe that’d probably beat them all if we polled a Best of 2012 list today. Nate’s ’Pure Platinum’ Nike Air Yeezy 2s already have the toe wrinkles to prove they’ve been well-worn (plus a ‘Solar Red’ second course waiting on the sidelines), and here we see proof that Kanye West’s second Nike Sportswear collaboration can handle the hardwood (or asphalt, as the case may be) just as well as a concert stage.
