You heard it right – the Nike Air Yeezy 2 is hitting Nikestore. The Wolf Grey/Pure Platinum joints were all spoken for within minutes (probably seconds) when 21 Mercer opened up its Twitter RSVP, but it’s clear now that Nikestore will in fact carry both colorways if you missed out on the Wolf Grey. Quick details: the time and date for the release has not been confirmed, and the only way to find out is by following the Nikestore Twitter account, where they will update all pertinent information. Again, the day and time will not be mentioned in advance. Looks like all hope isn’t lost, so stay tuned to Sneaker News and we’ll keep you on top of all Air Yeezy 2 release information until this Saturday’s official release.

Sneaker News already hit you with the most thorough list of Air Yeezy 2 release spots, but it just got a bit longer now that select Foot Locker House of Hoops locations will release the Air Yeezy 2 as well. No campouts, no release day mayhem (we still remember what happened during All-Star Weekend), but instead a simple online entry form (live now) with the lucky recipients being notified on Friday, June 8th. Winners will be able to purchase the shoes in-store ONLY on Saturday. We’ll list the four House of Hoops locations, but head to Foot Locker Unlocked for complete entry rules.

Air Yeezy II Store List last updated: 1:57pm, EST June 8th, 2012
If you’re hell-bent on getting the Nike Air Yeezy 2 this Saturday, you’d better be equipped with all the information necessary to maximize your odds at getting your own pair. 21 Mercer confirmed their release using the Twitter RSVP (the only spot to have both pairs in the States), but Japan’s Nike Harajuku has also confirmed a release of both as well. Below is a list of stores that will release the Nike Air Yeezy 2, so jot them down and we’ll keep updating this list as we get closer to D-Day. Remember, most, if not all locations, will be conducting some sort of raffle/wristband procedure, so if you see your local shop on this list, be sure to hit them up first-hand for full details.

Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer flagship location in New York just tweeted in confirmation of the Saturday, June 9th release of the ‘Pure Platinum’ and ‘Solar Red’ Air Yeezy 2s. The only way to get a pair is through the new Twitter RSVP that’ll pop up at a time TBD on Thursday, and it turns out that they’re not the only New York retailer ready to go on Saturday who’s doing a raffle-claim in advance of the big day. Ronnie Fieg’s Kith will offer raffles between Noon Thursday and 7pm Friday at the Manhattan location, where you’ll be able to put down your data to secure a pair at either that store or the Brooklyn location. There’s a strict 1-per customer limit in effect with this release, but aside from the pairs released, Kith is also giving away a pair at the end of the raffle Friday night, to be notified by social media and with a pickup in your chosen size on Saturday morning. US residents can enter on the Kith homepage; will you be entering multiple raffles or otherwise branching out to ensure you’ll get those hotly anticipated Nike Air Yeezy 2s on June 9th?

Nike’s new “Twitter RSVP” system came into play not long after the events of the Galaxy Foamposite release. Though not official, it could be said that this new release procedure was to better prepare for high-profile releases like the Air Yeezy 2, and with the release of this much-anticipated sequel officially hitting stores this Saturday, many have been wondering just how Nike will handle its in-store release. First off, 21 Mercer is just one of two stores that will release both the Black/Solar Red and the Wolf Grey/Pure Platinum colorway. Secondly, the only way to get one of the Air Yeezy 2s is through the aforementioned Twitter RSVP, which 21 Mercer will open up on Thursday, June 7th at an undisclosed time. If Yeezy taught you anything, it’s to keep your eyes glued to 21 Mercer’s Twitter account, and once you’ve received your confirmation, you will be able to purchase your Air Yeezy 2 this Saturday on June 9th.

The annual hip-hop extravaganza known as the HOT 97 Summer Jam has become an yearly highlight in the hip-hop game, marking the unofficial start of a season filled with relaxation and of course, your favorite hip-hop tunes. The HOT 97 Summer Jam 2012 was held this past Sunday at the customary location in East Rutherford, NJ, where a countless arsenal of today’s most relevant artists came through for a live showcase of the best music of the year. In case you were uncertain of the release date, the unveiling of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 earlier today should now confirm that June 9th will be the one and only known date to cop either the ‘Pure Platinum’ colorway of the Black/Solar Red. While the Black pair was left out in Nike’s official photo shoot, we do have a crisp viewing of what some might call the ‘flagship’ Air Yeezy colorway, complete with glowing soles. One of the emphasized points of the Air Yeezy 2 is the animal shell upper – most notably the anaconda-skin molded leather upper. Possibly the most anticipated sequel to any sneaker in the history of the game is Kanye West’s second project with Nike Sportswear. The first Yeezy was introduced in 2009 (hope you remembered that proceeds went to a charity of Kanye’s choice) and has since created an indomitable legend in such a short period of time, causing an increased excitement about the the second Air Yeezy. Built on the Air Tech Challenge II outsole with design inspiration gathered from other classic Cross Training silhouettes, the Air Yeezy 2 draws upon the animalistic appeal with the anaconda-textured leather and reptilian-inspired spikes along the heel, but also serves true function as unnecessary padding was removed and the tongue and collar are both comfortable and breathable. Clearly, the shoe is slimmer and a bit lowered compared to the original Air Yeezy, as it was tailored to fit Kanye’s foot and designed for comfort and movement.
One of the highlight details of the Air Yeezy 2 is the selection of materials; a luxurious combination of rich leather, rugged ballistic nylon, and soft nubuck complete an awe-inspiring package of high-end feel. The added details refer ancient civilizations, like the emblem of Horus on the tongue, the hieroglyphics that spell out ‘YZY’, and ‘lace-lock’ holes that spell out the Roman numeral ‘II’.
