This year’s All-Star Weekend release of the Nike Barkley Posite Max “Area 72″ was one of the highlights of February, with a special in-store release event at the Houston Galleria Mall with Nike designer Marc Dolce being a nice cherry on top. For a lucky few, Marc stuck around and autographed some of the boxes for those who copped the Area 72 releases, with some added illustrations and sketches of the shoes as well as the Raygun logo. It’s definitely a step ahead of the basic autographed shoebox, making this pair quite a rarity for an already highly-coveted shoe. A recent feature of the Nike Barkley Posite Max unveiled some interesting details on the genesis of this mega-hybrid, and noted that this spicy Metallic Silver/Gamma Blue colorway was one of four releases headed in the coming months. We already know the release of the “Phoenix Suns” colorway is May 18th, but could this version drop earlier? Since the first release of the “Area 72″ colorway, the Nike Barkley Posite Max has been one of the more talked-about models in 2013. Quite an impressive mash-up of Penny and Barkley, although the price-tag has some balking at a pick-up. Those who have copped, on the other, hand have zero regrets, because these look incredible on-feet. Tomorrow, the “Sixers” colorway will join the aforementioned “Area 72″ and the “Eggplant”, so don’t miss out by hitting up your local NSW store like Sneaker Lounge or getting one now on eBay.

The release date for the Nike Barkley Posite Max ”Suns” is May 18th, 2013, according to Nike. Just today, we showed you an in-depth look at all the cool design sketches that led up to the Barkley Posite Max silhouette, and although we started with a purple-ish Eggplant colorway, the upcoming Court Purple/Team Orange colorway throws in the “Godzilla” concept that we’ve come to associate Charlesy Barkley with. One of the key new models from Nike this year was the Nike Barkley Posite Max, bringing together several key design elements from the historic Barkley line into a well-composed model utilizing Foamposite technology. With several upcoming colorways already in the works, we’re getting a first look at a new Black/Green colorway which features a metallic sheen on the Green Foamposite upper and a matte black on the ankle and in-step collar. This new colorway, as well as the three upcoming ones we’ve already previewed, will be releasing through August, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for specific release info coming soon. This Saturday sees the release of the Nike Barkley Posite Max in Energy and Fire. If we hadn’t already come to associate these new colors with the classic Philadelphia 76ers palette, couldn’t they just as easily have been applied to this colorway inspired by Sir Charles’ next NBA stop? This Phoenix Suns palette adds Godzilla lizard scales on the Foamposite elements as a reminder that the closest thing to Barkley’s ferocious post presence was the monster synonymous with obliterated Japanese cityscapes. We’re still waiting on the color code for these along with a release date, but the best round of images yet is waiting below and Sneaker News will keep you posted with the latest.

Like we mentioned in the post a short while ago detailing a shoe synonymous with the season Charles Barkley came closest to an NBA title, the Round Mound of Rebound’s wildly successful Foamposite tribute is one of the big drops coming up next Saturday, April 20th. This ‘Sixers’ Nike Barkley Posite Max goes back before Sir Charles arrived in Phoenix, referencing the Hall of Fame power forward’s first eight seasons in Philadelphia. The first of three colorways on the horizon hits select Nike Sportswear dealers in just under two weeks and you can see some crisp new images below.
