Nike Blazer Mid LR – Anthracite – Gym Red

nike blazer mid lr anthracite gym red Nike Blazer Mid LR Anthracite Gym Red

The Nike Blazer Mid LR marks the first time we’ve seen LunarLon used in conjunction with Beaverton’s 1973 original basketball silhouette. It’s the first time we’ve seen the Mid cut differ so greatly from the high and the first time that the midtop version’s toe stitching hasn’t indicated a ‘foxing’ ribbon (not to mention those new side panel reinforcements). So how does a model with so much deviation from its heritage still manage to look so familiar (even when it feels so much better)? The Blazer Mid LR keeps with the nearly forty year-old conventions like a fat ‘belly’ Swoosh and old school non-italicized heel branding, and thanks to the vulcanized sole that belies a high-tech footbed, a pair of jeans has these virtually indistinguishable from the less technically-capable forebears. Click through for a closer look at this Anthracite and Gym Red combo, let us know how you feel about the LR’s unique shape and grab yours from Shelta.

Tinie Tempah’s design on the Disturbing London collaboration was a good start, and now we’re firmly planted within the era of the LunarLon Blazer. The Nike Blazer Mid LR brings together classic styling with modern technology, all in a silhouette that’s been altered to maximize comfort and skate efficiency. The style pictured above is one of those go-to looks for the coming cold weather, a mix of Seaweed and black with a gum-plated white vulc sole that has an organic versatility without being just another brown design for autumn. Check them out in greater detail below and look for yours at select retailers like Shelta.

Disturbing London x Nike Blazer Mid LR

disturbing london x nike blazer mid lr 1 Disturbing London x Nike Blazer Mid LR

British rapper Tinie Tempah is a well established sneakerhead, having jumped out of the gate with a nearly $40k bid on the first Nike Mag 2011s after having already made a few appearances in our Celebrity Feet feature.  Tinie had heretofore been lagging behind fellow UK emcee and fellow sneakerhead Dizzee Rascal when it came to working with the Swoosh on a collaborative release, but that changes now that TT’s label has crafted a special edition LunarLon Blazer.  The Disturbing London x Nike Blazer Mid LR is cast in a suede the same shade of red as the skull that makes up DL’s logo (the same insignia you’ll see on the tongue tag in more images below).  Check out this first Blazer Mid LR collabo in greater detail after the jump, let us know how they compare to Dizzee and Ben Drury’s work and stick with Sneaker News for release info.

Nike Unveils Team USA Olympic Medal Podium Gear

nike olympics podium 1 Nike Unveils Team USA Olympic Medal Podium Gear

It isn’t at all MVPresumptuous that Nike has been designing their podium gear for USA Olympic athletes well in advance of the 2012 London Games.  Historically, the US is the most oft-golded nation, and as Global Olympic Creative Director Martin Lotti noted, “The world is watching and we want to make sure the athlete looks and feels good in celebration of their achievement.”  For the first time, the Swoosh is offering three distinct outfits for different sports, top-to-bottom outfits that bring together the style and comfort of modern warmups with some of Beaverton’s best footwear styles.  The track athletes as well as those from other traditional sports will suit up in the 21st C. Windrunner and Nike Flyknit Trainer, ballers of varying sorts should show up in the MKII Jacket and Air Force 1 Low and the rest (archery, boxing, cycling, etc.) are slated to accept their medals in the Varsity Bomber Classic and an equally updated classic in the LunarLon-cushioned Blazer Mid LR.  Check out these outfits and the sneakers up close below, let us know who’s got the winning look and stick with Sneaker News for more 2012 Olympic shoes and gear.

Nike Blazer Mid LR

nike blazer mid lr uk 7 Nike Blazer Mid LR

Though their naming conventions leave us sometimes wondering exactly which is which, one thing Nike SB’s Blazers have always had in common is the Zoom Air cushion embedded in the heels of their insoles. This extra nicety adds some padding where vulcanized soles are notorious for debilitating bruises, but as many SB riders have already found out, LunarLon might prove to be worth the adjustment in the long run. This new Nike Blazer Mid LR bears no ‘SB’ branding and looks to be one of the early evidences of the SB/6.0 restructuring process, but both its classic style and brand new cushioning platform both have their roots in a decade of Swoosh skateboarding. Check out three new colorways after the jump and be on the lookout for these as they’ve just hit NikeStore UK.
