NIKE BLAZER MID The Nike Blazer Mid is a slightly altered version of the Nike Blazer High, the first of Nike’s foray into the world of basketball sneakers together with the Bruin. The Nike Blazer Mid features a smoother side wall on the rubber midsole along with a strip of foxing running along the base of the upper in comparison to the Nike Blazer High. The Nike Blazer Mid remains the less retro’d of these two closely related sneakers.

Six more weeks of winter might not be what you asked for, but Nike Sportswear is ready to make sure that even if this relatively mild winter extends beyond the average duration, you’ll be prepared for the transition into spring. Check out this new Nike WMNS Blazer Mid Premium in Legacy Red with Champagne accents, a look that regular Sneaker News readers will find familiar. They’re essentially the red version of a blue pair we showed you last week, everything from the simple blocking and molded Swoosh to the floral heel tab and fuzzy sockliner. Seeing a range of colors applied to this simple template reminds us one of the reasons why tonal and monochromatic looks have become so dominant in recent years, and this particular pair is awaiting your purchase at NSW spots like Titolo.

In examining a recent WMNS Air Max 90 release from Nike Sportswear, we noted that they were the first such model for ladies since a grey woolen pair from the NSW VacTech collection touched down just before the turn of the year. And though we’ve seen a couple other pairs since then with molded Swooshes, those marked the end of the VT capsule, or so we thought. Some six weeks later, here comes a new Nike Blazer Mid VT in black wool that manage to reprise an even older Blazer Mid design motif by adding ticked laces like a few pairs from last summer. Check out this chronological outlier in more detailed images after the jump and grab yours today from Size?.

One of the best of the more understated custom designs we’ve seen on Sneaker News was a ‘Jet Life’ Blazer SB crafted by JBF that celebrated the New York Jets’ AFC Championship run last season, one that just saw its sequel released a couple weeks back. And while the pair pictured above doesn’t have the custom crafted airliner in its heel tab, this Nike WMNS Blazer Mid Premium does indeed have the kind of vintage Jets appeal that’d make Broadway Joe guarantee you’ll buy them. These Blazer Mids for Ladies aren’t a pre-yellowed VNTG release, but rather achieve the classic look by juxtaposing Lush Green and grey suedes, not to mention the old shcool vibe of this silhouette and its vulcanized sole. Thanks a lot, Punxsutawney Phil! Now we’ve got another six weeks of rotten weather to look forward to because of that pesky varmint, though perhaps this latest release from Nike Sportswear is a sign that taking things back into winter isn’t a bad thing after all. This new Nike WMNS Blazer Mid is the first such silhouette for ladies that’s been sufficiently noteworthy since last summer’s Liberty of London collaboration, its curious blend of Blue Grey suede and sherling along with a VacTech molded Swoosh throw us right back into the thick of boot-buying season. They’re one of the best Blazers for women to come along in a while by default, but are these strong enough to warrant the elusive 1.5-up for male sneakerheads? Let us know what you think of this abominably icy WMNS Blazer Mid and look for them now at NSW shops like Titolo.

One year ago today, sneaker customizer JBF whipped up one of the most popular custom sneakers of the year in the ‘Jet Life’ Blazer Mid; playing off of Curren$y’s ‘Jet Life’ track, the shoe really took off because due to the New York Jets’ playoff run that was stopped short at the AFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, the Jets are in complete disarray, but JBFs part deux of his Jet Life customs are still worth a look; the design is roughly the same, but now the heel logo features real Raw Rolling Papers, the tongue now reads ‘Jets Fool’, and the inner tongue label, well, you can see for yourself. Just 12 pairs will be made so act fast because they were certainly a hot item when the original first dropped, so check out the detailed gallery below and head to JBF’s online shop to get yours.

Being that both models carry roughly the same silhouette, there’s naturally some confusion between the Nike Blazer Mid and High. A couple of the telltale signs that separate the Mids from their old school counterpart is the smooth vulc sole sidewall whereas the Highs feature a wood grain pattern, as well as the strip of fabric running the shoe’s circumference like a foxing band on the Mids that’s not there on the Highs. These same design elements can also be found on all but the VNTG series of Blazer Lows by Nike Sportswear, and this pack of Mids and Lows goes even one step further by uniting these two in their use of semi-glossy leather uppers with tonal woolen branding and gum brown bottoms. Overshadowed in recent months by boot variations on the Air Force 1 and Dunk, Nike Sportswear’s third standby classic basketball model has come through with a rugged look of its own for the cold weather season. The Nike Blazer Mid ACG ‘Outdoor Pack’ brings together an orange-accented black leather pair with the above pictured Hazelnut suede model whose Sport Red laces and heel stripe might remind you of the Air Magma’s OG colorway. It’s a similar proposition here, dealing with a suede upper that was designed for rough conditions: should you keep them pristine or go ahead and embrace the fact that they’re going to take some scuffs, knowing that it’ll build character. Click through to see more and let us know how this new NSW drop at CNCPTS compares to their other spring 2012 footwear releases.

The Nike Blazer Mid has been all over the place in terms of construction over the past few months, Nike Sportswear having crafted this six decade veteran in AB, VT and ACG variants all more recently than the most basic model. But this new release proves there’s still plenty of mileage left on this 1973-born classic, a bold Melon Crush suede model whose white and beige accents might remind you of the Size? collaboration from a couple years back. Thankfully, this pair should probably be a bit easier to get your hands on, but you should still look to the UK for your stock, as End has put up pre-sales in advance of a February ship date.
